2 Classes At EIP we pride ourselves on our face-to-face classes. We believe that there is no learning without engagement. As the original conversation school on the Gold Coast, EIP has been refining its approach to language learning for over 16 years. Our teachers goal is to engage you through up-to-date and fun activities that allow you to start living the language from your first class. Week by week you will increase your confidence in your own and feel more and more comfortable using it outside the classroom. After all, you don t learn to use it in a classroom, you learn it to use in the real world. Your course will use the CUTTING EDGE text (one of the most popular language learning texts available) as a jumping off point. From there your EIP teacher will take you on a journey of language discovery. Each level of the course runs for 11 weeks with each week focusing on a different use of the language. You will be immersed in with 20 hours of face-to-face classes each week. You will learn how to communicate in different situations as well as building fluency through communicative and task-based activities. Every week will get you a step closer to mastering. The course is broken into five (5) levels with each level completed over 11 weeks. Students then have a 2-week holiday before moving on to the next level (based on test results in week 5 and week 10). A typical study week is shown below: Time Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday 8:30am - 9:30am Review of weekly theme focus 1 review Revision and open question time 9:30am - 10:30am Practice Pronunciation focus focus 2 Vocab building / task based on weekly content Break Time 11:00am - 12:00pm 12:00pm - 1:00pm : Communicative exercise Video activity Practice : Communicative exercise / Read for pleasure session Peer teaching Music activity task based on weekly content review Interactive group activity OR Attendance Attendance is compulsory for all levels for any student who is on a student visa. Your attendance is recorded twice a day and accounts for 10% of your total grade. To meet your student visa requirements, you are required to meet the 80% attendance rate and also meet the course progress requirements.
3 EIP : Elementary-Advanced CRICOS: J The EIP curriculum is designed to enhance the language proficiency of international students and visitors travelling to Australia for the purpose of improving their general proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course is broken into five (5) levels with each level completed over 11 weeks. Each level of the course runs for 11 weeks with each week focusing on a different use of the language. Students will be immersed in with 20 hours of faceto-face classes each week. They will learn how to communicate in different situations as well as building fluency through communicative and task-based activities. Every week gets our students a step closer to mastering. This enables them to prosper in the real world. levels Elementary The course is designed for students who already have basic proficiency in that enables them to conduct basic transactional conversation and use the language in familiar environments, such as making basic purchases at shops and restaurants and using public transport. The course will enable students in improving their language skills in both transactional and social situations. Pre- The course is designed for students who already have transactional proficiency in that enables them to conduct simple conversations and use the language in routine work related tasks. The course will enable students in improving their language skills in both work and social situations. The course is designed for students who already have the language proficiency in that enables them to conduct simple conversations on everyday topics, use the language in routine undemanding work-related tasks and participate in everyday commerce. The course will enable students in further improving their language skills in both work and social situations. Upper- The course is designed for students who already have the language proficiency in that enables them to conduct detailed conversations on everyday topics, use the language in routine work related tasks and participate actively in everyday commerce. The course will enable students in further improving their language skills in both work and social situations. The Upper program builds language skills necessary for participation in a wide range of social and vocational activities Advanced The course is designed for students who already have the language proficiency in that enables them to conduct extended conversations on everyday topics, use the language in familiar and new work related tasks and participate actively in everyday commerce. The course will enable students in further improving their language skills in both work and social situations. The Advanced program will enable students to perform effectively in a wide range of informal and formal situations relevant to social and community life and everyday commerce and social activities.
4 Given the global demand for language, the course will assist the of students overall proficiency utilising a task-based approach to language learning, with content covering social situations, contemporary global issues and world culture. Elementary Pre- Upper- Advanced Course Start & Duration Each ELICOS course duration is 11 weeks of study Courses start every Monday except on public holidays and regular, formal EIP holidays (it is recommended that students start in week 1 or 6)
5 EIP IELTS Preparation CRICOS:096464G This 11-week course is designed to prepare Upper to Advanced level students for the IELTS Test (Academic & Training). On completion of this course, students should be able to achieve in the IELTS bands for each skill tested. 6 for Academic Purposes - EAP CRICOS: G The for Academic Purposes (EAP) course is designed to assist students in improving their level skills in order to undertake academic study at a tertiary level. It is aimed at students who already have / Upper level proficiency and want to prepare themselves to enter an Australia university.
