What kind of growth in their readiness to learn have others shown when tested again in Winter / Spring?

7 MAP Skills - Purpose MAP Skills is designed for the following purposes: Identifying missing foundational skills and/or instructional reading level MAP Skills locator tests indicate what skills students know and are ready to learn and provide a learning path for moving forward Assigning open educational resources to support instruction Curated online instructional resources to help teachers differentiate instruction Checking for skill mastery or independent reading level Monitoring progress using a mastery model of progress monitoring MAP Skills can be used as a tool to monitor progress in Response to Intervention (RTI) programs
8 Student Use Cases MAP Skills was designed for readers, students who are reading to learn, with these intended uses: Remediation: Students in grades 3-12 who have skill deficits in the K-8 range. Reading comprehension passages at lower reading levels were selected to be age appropriate for a grade 3+ audience. On level: Students in grades 3-8. Mastery checks can be used prior to instruction as a preassessment of skills, as part of a summative assessment, or to check for retention of skills. Skills locator tests can be given beginning at grade level as appropriate. Enrichment: Students who can read up through grade 7. Teachers can find appropriate above grade level skills that build logically on skills students already know. Grades K-7 with audio supports*

MAP Skills (SN) is designed to be used as a progress monitor, as defined by the National Center on Intensive Intervention SN is a Mastery Measurement that tracks individual skills as students master them SN can use MAP RIT scores and identified Instructional Area / Goal Area scores to target missing skills for each student Appropriate for Grades 3 8; HS remediation; Gifted programming MAP Skills is not an Instructional Content Provider product (eg. Compass Learning; Study Island; iready etc.) MAP Skills is not appropriate for use as a screening tool
13 MAP Skills How it works Teacher view: Manage passwords; Assign missions; view skill achievement; track progress Skills Locator uncovers gaps in skills underlying a low RIT score; you can search for 1 5 skills per mission (10 20 minutes) Assign Resources use activities curated by Knovation; can limit to Needs Work skills; can enter url of a preferred resource Mastery Check verifies student progress; Mastered = 5 correct / Needs Work = 2 incorrect Student view: go on missions give feedback - collect rewards
14 Tracking Student Progress 'Donut' chart gives a class view of the skill level by strand 'Heat Map' chart helps pinpoint where students need to focus, what they've mastered and the grade level of their skills attainment Student progress chart gives the number of skills located and progressed over time; can also be used to mark when interventions have been applied Assignments tab / MAP Skills can identify the next logical step in skills development by strand based on previous results. You can follow the SN suggestion via Ready For card or tailor to match the instruction curriculum planned

Student Profile Report: Disengagement Percentage of disengaged responses: The percentage of items on the test that were answered too quickly for a student to have applied effortful behavior to answer the question. Estimated impact of disengagement on RIT: Shows how many RIT points higher the student might have scored if they had been fully engaged. For example, with a RIT score of 231 and an estimated impact of - 2, the student might have the potential to score 233 if they were fully engaged during testing.
