1 APP: 30 Hands Description: 30 Hands is a storytelling app that allows students, teachers and anyone to easily create narrated stories or presentations based on photos, images, drawings or video clips using your ipad. Drag photos, images or video clips around the desktop into the order of the story. Next, record audio over each image. Easy editing allows students to take learning to a higher level and creates a better final video whether created by a student or teacher. Finally, the story or presentation can be published to the device s photo area or uploaded to a 30 Hands Cloud collaborative learning site. Online Tutorial: Directions for Use: Click on the 30 Hands Free icon on your ipad. Open the app. When you open the app, this screen will appear. The next step is registering on 30 Hands. 2 You will have the option to view a short tutorial. This is a great way to get to know the app. If you would like to do this, click on the tutorial. Otherwise, click on the + sign in the upper right hand corner. Once you have created a title for your project, the screen will prompt you to add photos to your slide show presentation. There are several places you can get those. The options include: take a picture, get a picture from the camera roll, draw a slide, or retrieve a photo from the web or drop box or google drive. 3 Once you have selected several photos to add to your presentation. They will appear on your screen individually. Click on each photo to add details to your presentation (such as video, clip art, drawings, and shapes). Touch each photo to record. Once you get to a photo, click on the record icon at the bottom of each photo to add audio recording to your photos. Click on this icon at the bottom of each photo to add details to your presentation (such as video, clip art, drawings, and shapes). A menu of options will appear at the top of your photo. 4 The tools on this menu bar include: Paintbrush: This is allows you to draw on top of your photo. Text: This allows you to type text on your photo. Arrow: This allows you to put arrows on your photo. Square: This allows you to draw boxes on top of your photo. Oval: This allows you to draw an oval on top of your photo. Line: This allows you to draw lines on top of your photo. Pen: This allows you to change the color of your writing, shapes, or lines. Font Size: This allows you to change the size of your font. Back Arrow: This allows you to undo your previous action. When you are finished creating your presentation there are a few options for sharing and saving. If you choose the Publish Video (free) option, you can save the project to your camera roll to view at any time. When you choose Publish Video (Free), a second window will appear. 5 Ideas for Classroom Use: Reading: Students can retell stories using pictures, text, and audio recordings. Students can make their own videos or stories to share with classmates. Math: Students Show steps to a multi-step math problem. Teachers can put a pre-made lesson at small group math area for students to view as necessary. Social Studies: Students can create technical directions for a specific project. Students can explain the different regions of a country. Science: Students can explain the steps to create a project.
