1. Logging In Go to Click on the Admin login button and it will take you to the Admin page. Enter your Admin login details you will have received these in an . 3 of 43

Your Homepage will have 3 boxes View courses, manage users and View reports. 2. View Courses Click on the View courses box to see what courses you have subscribed to. Each course will display the expiry date too. You can then go into each course and view the content. 4 of 43

3. Manage Users Click on the manage users box to view teacher and student accounts for your school or to upload spreadsheets to create or edit teachers, students and groups. You can use the role drop-down box to switch between teacher and student accounts. You can use this to check usernames and passwords and to change passwords. 5 of 43

Importing a spreadsheet All of the user actions in an Excel-Import account can be completed by importing an Excel formatted spreadsheet. From the Admin landing page click on the Excel Import button and you will be able to browse your computer for an appropriately formatted spreadsheet. The template for that spreadsheet can be downloaded directly from that Excel Import dialogue box and is the same for any actions that you might wish to carry out. We always recommend generating your spreadsheet directly from your MIS. The spreadsheet is split into three workbooks, Students, Teachers and Groups. If your MIS does not allow you to generate separate workbooks then we recommend copying and pasting the output of your MIS into the template. Adding Users Adding users can only ever be done by importing a spreadsheet. Teachers and admins cannot create a user directly within Connect. Adding users is always done by putting Add in the relevant line on the spreadsheet. Adding Teachers The Teachers workbook will allow you to enter the following fields: First Name (FirstName) Last Name (LastName) address which should be the teacher's school address and not a personal or departmental address Unique Identifier (UID) as it appears in your school's MIS (we do not recommend attempting to create unique identifiers by hand) Action, which, when adding a teacher, will be Add FirstName LastName UID Action Arthur Adams a.adams@example.com A Add Beatrix Beavis b.beavis@example.com A Add Charlie Carmichael c.carmichael@example.com A Add NOTE: BOTH ADDRESS AND UID SHOULD BE UNIQUE 6 of 43

Adding Students The Students workbook will allow you to enter the following fields: First Name (FirstName) Last Name (LastName) Gender written as M or F (optional) Date of Birth (DOB) written as DD/MM/YYYY Academic Year written as "Year #" Unique Identifier (UID)as it appears in your school's MIS (we do not recommend attempting to create unique identifiers by hand) Action, which, when adding a student, will be "Add" FirstName LastName Gender DOB Year UID ACTION Adam Avery M 05/09/2001 Year 7 B Add Belinda Baggins F 16/10/2001 Year 7 B Add Carlos Collins M 27/11/2001 Year 7 B Add Diane Danes F 08/12/2001 Year 7 B Add Alice Anglesey F 01/08/2000 Year 8 B Add Bob Barber M 12/09/2000 Year 8 B Add Carol Costa F 23/10/2000 Year 8 B Add Dave Derkins M 04/11/2000 Year 8 B Add [NOTE: UID SHOULD BE UNIQUE. ALSO, NO TWO STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE FIRST AND LAST NAME, DOB AND YEAR BE THE SAME; YOU WOULD NEED TO CHANGE ONE OF THEIR NAMES] Adding Groups Creating new groups is done by adding students to that group. Where the import process finds a new group ID, a new group will automatically be created. Since groups depend on the existence of students and teachers, the teachers and students referenced should always already exist or be in the Teachers and Students workbooks of the same Excel Import. The Groups workbook will allow you to enter the following fields: The name (Groupname) is how the group will appear for teachers when they are assigning work Unique Identifier of the group (UIDofGroup) as it appears in your school's MIS (we do not recommend attempting to create unique identifiers by hand) Unique Identifier of the supervisor (UIDofSupervisor), which should be of a teacher already in Collins Connect or being added in the same Excel Import action 7 of 43

Subject (optional) is the subject which that groups but can be left empty as well. The subject field currently has no effect on Connect s functionality. Unique Identifier of the student (UIDofStudent), which should be of a student already in Collins Connect or being added in the same Excel Import action Action (MembershipAction), which, when adding a student to a group, will be Add Start Date (StartDate) (optional) If no start date is selected then it will default to the day of the import. If the start date is in the future then teachers will not see the group until that start date. End Date (EndDate) Groups that have a lapsed end date will only be visible to teachers if they have results attached to them within the academic year being looked at. Groupname UIDofGroup UIDofSupervisor Subject UIDofStudent MembershipAction StartDate EndDate M7A C0001 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M7A C0001 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M7A C0001 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M7A C0001 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M8D C0002 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M8D C0002 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M8D C0002 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 M8D C0002 A Maths B Add 01/09/ /08/2016 [NOTE: PLEASE ENSURE THAT UIDOFGROUP IS ALWAYS CONSISTENT WITH GROUPNAME] 8 of 43

Changing information Apart from adding information, records can also be updated or deleted. Both of these can be performed on any of the workbooks and will rely on proper use of the Unique Identifiers. To update or delete, simply use Update or Delete in the action field of any given workbook. Always be careful when deleting as this may result in data loss where an alternative action (such as modifying a start or end date) might be a better way to achieve the same effect. FirstName LastName Gender DOB Year UID ACTION Alice Allans F 01/08/2000 Year 8 B Update FirstName LastName UID Action Charlie Carmichael c.carmichael@example.com A Delete Moving students from one group to another Moving students between groups should be done by modifying the start and end dates of a student in a group. So if, for instance, a student was originally meant to stay in a group until August but then is moved to a different group then you would want to modify their original record (using the Update action) to the day they are moved (or earlier or later depending on what assignments from which groups you would like the student to have access to) and then Add a new group record as above. Groupname UIDofGroup UIDofSupervisor Subject UIDofStudent MembershipAction StartDate EndDate M7A C0001 A Maths B Update 01/09/ /10/2015 M8D C0002 A Maths B Add 12/10/ /08/2016 [NOTE: THIS STUDENT ALREADY EXISTED IN M7A SO IS AN UPDATE. THEY DID NOT EXIST IN M8D SO THAT IS AN ADD] 9 of 43

Summaries and logs Summaries On completing an Excel Import you will be given an overview of what has happened, which will include four tabs. The summary tab will show you a quick overview of everything that was done and anything that might need your attention. There are two types of things that might need your attention, errors and warnings. Errors will mean that a line in the spreadsheet was ignored. For instance, a new student with no date of birth would produce an error and that student would not be created in Connect Warnings are things which are often errors but might not be. Rows with warnings will still be processed but a warning will be shown to allow you to modify that record if it turns out that something was amiss. For instance, you may have created two students with the same first and last name. This is something that is very possible but may also be an accidental duplicate so Collins Connect will point out that it has happened. 10 of 43

The other three tabs will represent the three workbooks from the spreadsheet and will go through line by line to show if each individual row was processed or skipped and why. Logs Next to the Excel Import button you will find the Import Logs. Here you will be able to download a copy of every spreadsheet that has been imported into your school's account as well as the import summaries for each. The copies of the spreadsheets that you download will be slightly different in that each workbook will have a new column to denote how each row was processed. Sorting by that column will allow you to quickly find problem rows. Should you wish to use the log to quickly correct any issues, please ensure you remove this new column before attempting to import again. Groupname UIDofGroup UIDofSupervisor Subject UIDofStudent MembershipAction StartDate EndDate Status M7A C0001 A Maths B Update 01/09/ /10/2015 Group updated successfully M8D C0002 A Maths B Update 12/10/ /08/2016 User not added [NOTE: HERE THE UPDATE TO M8D DID NOT WORK BECAUSE THAT STUDENT NEVER EXISTED IN THAT GROUP. AN ADD ACTION WAS NECESSARY] 11 of 43

Click on Create test button at the bottom to complete the process. 25 of 43

Once you click on OK, your newly created test will be added to your selection of tests to allocate to groups. Once the test has been dragged to the required group, click on the OK button. Click on the Finish and review button. Enter a Start date and an End date for the test. Then select the Confirm and notify students button. The tests will be available for students to complete during this time marking and monitoring homework and tests In the top right of the screen there are two buttons: My Marking enables you to mark long answer questions from students homework and tests The Notifications feature provides messages relating to test/homeworks you have set. e.g. deadlines about to expire, students making submissions 26 of 43

4.3. MY MARKING Click My Marking at the very top of the screen. The assignments you have set are displayed here showing whether there is any marking for you to do. There will be marking available if any students allocated to that assignment have completed and submitted it. Each tile shows how many students have submitted the assignment and there is a reminder of the deadline you set for it. Click on the tile for the assignment you want to mark. The following screen will allow you to mark the submissions that have come in. The students that have completed their assignment but have not been marked will appear in the top left under To do with the ones marked showing under Marked. 27 of 43

Once you have selected a student to mark, their unmarked questions will appear in the To do section at the top. Use the blue Marking box for guidance on the mark scheme and to assign your marks for each question. Once you have marked all available submissions for a particular question, the question number will move to the Done section on the right and turn green. Note that if further students submissions come in, that question will have moved back to the To do section the next time you log in. You do not have to finish all marking in a single session. You can do as much or as little as you like. Click Save and send at the end of the session. If you have marked all questions in the assignment for one or more students, you will be given the option to send those results immediately to the students. If you choose to do this, their results will appear in your results screen and the students will also be able to see how they did in their results area. You can also choose not to send the results yet if you prefer to wait until you have marked all students submissions and send them all in one go at the end. 5. VIEWING RESULTS Once students have completed their tests and/or homework, you can view their results by clicking into the Results box. 28 of 43

Select the group that you would like to see results for. This then generates a colour-coded report which shows you results for homework and tests. The radio buttons at the top can be used to select different sets of results. The All option allows you to select homework and test results. 29 of 43

There is a different icon to indicate a different status of a test and/or homework. A green tick indicates that the student has completed the test or homework A red cross indicated that the student has not completed the test or homework N/a indicates that the test or homework was not set for this student You can see a breakdown of individual questions by clicking on an assignment name on the left of the main results grid. 30 of 43

From here or from the main results grid you can click on a student s overall score to see the test as they completed it (as well as the correct answers to compare with). For more in-depth results, you can click on the student name from either results grid to give a record sheet for the individual student. Here you can view students feedback and add your own teacher feedback by clicking on the Teacher feedback link. This feedback will be visible to the student when they next log in. 31 of 43

On tests, clicking the Report button to the right of the feedback will allow you to see a breakdown of which areas that particular test highlighted as being strengths or weaknesses along with where in the book the student can go to revise that point. The EXPORT option in the top right of most reports allows you to save your results as an Excel file. 32 of 43

4. COLLINS CONNECT EXCEL IMPORT GUIDE: Student Guide 1. Logging In Homework Tests Looking at Content Logging In Go to Click on the Student login and it will take you to the school selection page. 33 of 43

Begin typing in your school s name and it should appear in a list. Click on your school and you will be taken to the Student login page. Once you have entered the details it asks for you can press the login button. If somebody else in your school has similar details to you, you may be asked to pick your name from a list. You will then be taken to the work you have been assigned and a selection of the courses your school is subscribed to. 34 of 43

2. Homework Click one of the homework tiles to start that homework activity. There may be one or more activities to do. Some may just require you to read them. Your teachers may ask you to complete activities that you submit outside of Collins Connect as well. 35 of 43

There may be a Homework quiz at the bottom. Click on the arrow to expand it to show the Start button. Once you start a quiz, there will be a series of questions to answer. You should enter your answers into the answer boxes provided. 36 of 43

Once you have answered a question, you should click on the Next button at the bottom. You can also click through the questions using the number line at the bottom. You can use the Tag for later button to remind you to return to questions you are unable to answer immediately. Once you have finished, click Complete quiz, and you will be shown a breakdown of your results. Note that if the quiz contains any long answer questions that are not automarked by the platform, your initial score will only reflect the questions the platform has been able to automark. Your score will be updated once your teacher has marked the long answer questions. You can click on Review to check your answers against the correct ones. Once you have completed all the exercises of the homework, you should make sure you tick all the Done tick boxes and click on the Submit homework red button in the top right. Note that your results do not get passed through to your teacher until you have clicked the Submit homework button so it is very important to remember to do this. 37 of 43

If the Submit button is clicked without completing all part of the activities, a message will alert you to make sure everything is completed and ticked off. If for whatever reason you do not click the Submit homework button, Collins Connect will autosubmit any work you have done on the homework to your teacher when the deadline passes. Once you have clicked the Submit homework button, you then have the opportunity to provide feedback. Select a tick box for easy, average or hard and then optionally enter a comment on how you found the homework. Click OK to submit your results and your feedback to your teacher. 38 of 43

3. Tests Note: Popups need to be enabled to view the tests. The test will open in a new window. Click on a test tile on the initial screen you see when you first log in to open a test. You will be presented with a Start button. Once you start the test, you will get a series of questions to answer. Enter answers into the boxes provided. When you have answered a question, you should click on the Next button at the bottom. You can also click through the questions using the number line at the bottom. You can use the Tag for later button to remind you to return to questions you are unable to answer immediately. Note you can Pause a test at any time and return and continue where you left off the next time you log in. Once you have clicked on Submit, you will be asked to confirm this. 39 of 43

You will then have the opportunity to provide feedback. Select a tick box for easy, average or hard and then optionally enter a comment on how you found the test. Click Submit to then get a breakdown of your results. Note that if the test contains any long answer questions that are not automarked by the platform, your initial score will only reflect the questions the platform has been able to automark. Your score will be updated once your teacher has marked the long answer questions. Click the Review button to check your answers against the correct ones. Once you have completed at least one homework or test, you can view the results by going to View my homework results and View my test results. When you select one of these, you will be prompted for a password. You will be asked to set this password the first time you log in to Collins Connect. If you forget your password, please ask your teacher to check with Collins Connect admin who can use the manage user button on their panel to check your password. 40 of 43

You then have a selection of headings that show different information: Overall score (%) Provides the overall mark for your homework or test Rank Provides an indication of how you are doing among your group Feedback Indicates whether any feedback has been given The EXPORT button allows you to view and save your results in Excel format. 41 of 43

4. Looking at Content Click on the course you wish to study. This will take you to the course s landing page where you can click on the Content button. Here you will be able to see all of the content from the textbook as well as interactive activities and homework quizzes. 42 of 43
