3 Redhill School is situated in the heart of Stourbridge, offering education to the 1170 students on roll. Stourbridge is on the edge of the West Midlands conurbation with easy access to Birmingham, the Black Country, North Worcestershire and the motorway network. It is an educationally rich area with successful primary and secondary schools and Sixth Form Colleges. Redhill School is popular with parents, being generally oversubscribed each year, and achieves excellent GCSE results. The school s appeal is based in its strengths in core subjects, modern foreign languages and its strong tradition in other areas such as sport, music and drama. The most recent inspection by OFSTED took place in November 2011 and judged the overall performance of the school to be outstanding. The school has benefited from a number of developments in the last few years, with new build science, language and sports facilities, the latter in partnership with the Football Association, and a complete refresh of ICT equipment. Redhill School is a great place in which to work. We have a full induction programme for new staff who meet together regularly both formally and informally. The culture of challenge and support is shared not only with our pupils but staff as well. New staff will usually be given a peer mentor to support them in their first year. Redhill was designated as a National Teaching School by the DFE in March In conjunction with our alliance partners we are committed to training new entrants into the profession, developing great pedagogy, whilst providing opportunities for succession planning and leadership. Teaching school status allows Redhill, as part of the Stourbridge Teaching School alliance, to be at the forefront of current national educational initiatives. Following an application to the Secretary of State for Education, Redhill School converted from a Local Authority maintained school to academy status on 1st July The school s success has been built upon the pastoral and PHSE programmes that support pupils as they progress through the school. The OFSTED report recognised the impact of the outstanding provision within the curriculum for care, guidance and support. The report also highlighted the exceptional behaviour of Redhill pupils both in lessons and around the school site. The school governors work closely with the leadership and staff so that Redhill School continues to thrive as a truly inclusive school. Our vision to is to be a leading school with successful partnerships both nationally and internationally. Redhill School is committed to safe working practices and safeguarding for children. 5 Creative Technology Learning Area The Creative Technology Department at Redhill is one of the most vibrant, creative and popular departments within the school. The Learning Area includes Art & Design, ICT, Design and Technology, Music and Business Studies. The Coordinator of the Learning Area (COLA) leads a dynamic team of teaching and support staff. The ICT and Business studies curriculum is continually evolving in line with educational changes and the schools desire to meet the needs of its pupils. In KS3 pupils are taught aspects of ICT and Business, which are delivered in specialist rooms. The school has four ICT rooms and two business suites, both of which have their own ICT provisions. The department is looking to move forward and continue to raise standards. We wish to appoint a dynamic leader who can inspire and drive teaching and learning. The most important attribute and skills to us will be your ability to work within our current team and your high level of teaching expertise and motivation. There is a genuine opportunity within the department for the successful applicant to drive curriculum change and work closely with the COLA and SLT leader to foster new opportunities for learners. subject at Redhill. Results in Business Studies are consistently outstanding at GCSE and subject residual are very significantly positive. The outcomes for students following ICT have been strong but not consistent for all learners. This will be one of the key priorities for the new post holder. OFSTED have judged teaching within the department and across the school as outstanding. The atmosphere is happy and purposeful. We set high standards emphasising concern and respect of the needs of others. A major feature of our school is the huge diversity of the extra curricular activities on offer to pupils and all staff have the opportunity to contribute in some way to the wider life of the school. The Coordinator of ICT and Business is a senior middle leader post which is reflected in the salary.
