2 Using i-ready Data to Differentiate Instruction There are numerous data points generated in the i-ready program which will help you plan and differentiate instruction. Below are several reports and resources to consider in making instructional decisions. DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS Class Profile Report details the average overall class scale scores by domain and how many students are below level, on level, and above level. It also specifies domain-specific instructional levels of the individual students in your class at the bottom of the report. 1. If you have tested more than one time, have you seen the kind of growth you would expect in each domain? 2. How will you address the domains in which student performance is not what you expected? 3. On the bottom part of the report, sort one of the domains by clicking on the arrows at the top of the column. Which students are struggling in this area? 4. What steps will you take to remediate their skills? shows individual student performance levels and scale scores for each domain, explains student strengths and areas of need, and provides customized recommendations and resources to support teacher-led instruction. 5. Select one student. Does this student have a Rush warning icon next to his/her overall results? YES NO If yes, then consider if this student should re-take the diagnostic. 6. Note his/her strengths using the overview. 7. What are the student s areas of need? 8. Looking at the Developmental Analysis at the bottom of the overview, are you able to find ideas on which skills to target for this student? 9. Examine this student s specific needs within a domain (click on the domain tab at the top of the report). Notice what the student can do and write what your next steps for instruction will be. 10. Open one of the Tools for Instruction lessons and think of how you could incorporate this into your instruction for this student. 11. When viewing a student s Reading Profile, click on the Lexile Performance tab. How can you use this information? Instructional Grouping Profile Report groups students by areas of need and provides the teacher with instructional recommendations and resources for each group to facilitate teacher-led small group instruction. 12. Note the grouping of the students in one of your classes. Are there any surprises? If so, click on the student s name to open the Student Profile Report. Are you able to find an explanation for this student s placement in this profile group? 13. Click on the tab for a Profile Group. What will be the first skills you focus on for this group? 14. Look at the Tools for Instruction PDFs. Which lessons will you begin with? Home Tab 15. Look underneath the Most Recent Diagnostic section. Are you able to see whether or not a student has completed the diagnostic? YES NO (ver ) Need technical support? i-readysupport@cainc.com or M-Th 8:30am-7:00pm, Fri 8:30am-5:00pm Eastern
