16 Tuesday Programme RATIONALE Every student has different learning styles. They also learn at different speeds and are at different levels of achievement for different subjects and topics. This differentiated programme provides opportunities for teachers to work with small groups of students more closely to meet to their different needs.

17 Tuesday Programme WHEN? Every Tuesday 2.15 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. * Details of the venue, time, date and name of teacher has been given in a letter to those who need the lessons.

18 Criteria for selection Students who : a. require extra support to address their learning gaps in each subject. b. have difficulties in managing their daily work.

19 FAQ 1) If my child is not selected, will my child lose out in terms of teaching and learning? No. The teachers do not cover next topic during these lessons. They revisit concepts that are taught in class. 2) If my child is not selected, can my child still join the class? If your child is not selected, that means your child is learning well in class and it will not benefit your child. The teacher s focus is on those who need help.

20 FAQ 3) If my child s performance worsens, can my child join the class? Yes. Your child will be invited to join the class when the need arises.

49 Switching to a less demanding subject combination A student who has considerable difficulties coping with subjects at the standard level can switch 1 or more subject(s) to the foundation level at P6. Deeper dialogue with child s teachers (end of P5 SA1/2)

54 Higher Mother Tongue Languages (HMTL) at P5 & P6 Student obtains at least a Band 1 in the overall P4 MT results Receives Letter of Offer to take up HMT in P5 Option to take HMT in P5 is given only once at the end-of-year at P4 Extra 1 hr per week (2 periods) taught outside curriculum time Marks not included in PSLE aggregate score

55 Higher Mother Tongue Languages (HMTL) at P5 & P6 Students must be prepared to cope with vast increase in the content for all subjects in Primary 5, including MTL. In addition, HMT focuses more on: - Writing component (Situational/Continuous Writing for HMT Composition) - Higher order questioning (Comprehension), in-depth learning beyond text.

56 Higher Mother Tongue Languages (HMTL) at P5 & P6 Subsequent movement at P6 will be based solely on your child s performance and the school s decision. Please note: Dropout from HMT class is not allowed and students should continue HMT in P6 (unless the child did not meet the promotion criteria) MT overall results at least 75 marks HMT overall results at least 50 marks
