1 21774VIC Certificate III General Education for Adults Course Description Students will be enrolled in the Certificate III in General Education for Adults (CGEA). The CGEA provides a solid, yet flexible structure through which students can develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, as well as real world tasks. This integrated curriculum will engage students in themed projects, career and transition workshops, and pathways planning. As part of their training, students may also complete the RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and RSF (Responsible Service of Food) Certificates. Access to individual counselling will be also be provided. Selection Criteria In order to be considered for the Program, the young person must: Over 15 years old be an Australian Citizen, or have Permanent Residency demonstrate a willingness to address personal issues which are functioning as barriers to engagement with learning be willing to undertake an interview with the Training Coordinator be willing to work cooperatively with students and staff of the Training Program not have commenced or are due to commence two or more government subsided courses in any one calendar year. Assessment Our assessments and assessment methods will ensure that we: focus on the application of the skill and knowledge as required in the workplace task skills (actually doing the job) task management skills (managing the job) contingency management skills (what happens if something goes wrong) job Role environments skills (managing your job and its interaction with others around you) We will ensure that we assess you in sufficient detail to ensure that we can determine that you have attained competency by way of questions and answers, tests, role- plays, practical demonstration and portfolio.

2 Trainers are available to discuss and provide limited professional advice as to the outcomes of the assessment process and guidance on future options. All assessment tasks must consider any language and literacy issues, cultural issues or any other individual needs related to the assessment. Where a student feels they have been unfairly judged and assessed on a specified task, project or assessment they may have the assessment reviewed by submitting an appeal form. Please refer back to the Complaints and Appeals section. National Recognition TaskForce Community Agency Inc. recognises relevant AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations. Recognition of Prior Learning Credit or exemptions for previous studies and industry experience may be available through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. RPL credits can only be allocated to complete units of competency. Further details are available by contacting: training@taskforce.org.au

3 Pathways Access and Equity The principles of Access and Equity will be applied in the selection of students and in the delivery of the training and assessment services.

4 How to EnroL Applications should be made directly to TaskForce Community Agency Inc. Course Delivery Course delivery is face to face in a classroom environment. Course Duration The course is delivered full time over a 10 week period, Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm.
