2 Kindergarten Homework o Homework in kindergarten in intended to reinforce the skills and concepts we are working on in class, and help establish habits that will help your child be successful in school. Students are given their monthly homework calendar at the beginning of each month. Homework folders are due each Friday (or the last day in school that week) for me to review. Folders will be returned to students each Monday. Please help your child be successful with homework by making sure they have the time and materials necessary to complete the assignments (sharp pencils, crayons, a clear place to work). If your child wants to work ahead, that is fine. If you feel that homework is too easy or too hard for your child, let me know and we can talk about modifications. When your child is doing homework, please allow him/her to be as independent as possible. For example, if your child is a beginning writer, allow him/her to spell words and sentences as best as possible independently words do not need to be spelled correctly. If your child is not at that point, it is fine to have your child dictate for you to write, or you can write on a separate piece of paper, and your child can copy. Math activities need to be completed with pencil. Homework writing can be done with either a pencil or thin marker no pen, please. Crayons, colored pencils, or markers are all fine for coloring activities.
