1 A Letter from Matt Ferris: Thank you for your interest in our College Internship Program. We are currently accepting applications for Summer 2018 through December 15. If you re new to CPC, our entire Family Ministries staff is very excited to meet you and get to know you. If you ve been around CPC for a while now, we are excited to catch up with you. The College Internship Program has been a staple of the Family Ministries summer since the mid- 1990s and has given college students the opportunity to experience vocational ministry in the local church, engage in relational ministry with elementary through high school-aged students, and experience personal growth through intentional spiritual development. Our interns work in tight-knit teams to create camp and relational ministry experiences that give kids and students the space to meet Jesus and experience Christian community. If all this sounds like a good fit for you, we would love for you to apply. Notes on our Application Process: The process begins with you reading this letter and the job description below. (Woo! You ve already started!) After you read this and decide that you d like to apply, you can fill out our online application at cpconline.org/college. I have included the application questions below so you can prepare/write out your responses prior to starting the application. We also require you to attach a résumé and cover letter. Please consider your summer schedule and make note of any date conflicts you may have so we can discuss these early on in our process. Once you complete the application, our staff will review your answers and your résumé in order to determine next steps. In-person interviews take place at CPC and involve me and other Family Ministries team members. Once we conduct interviews, Family Ministries staff meets to make our selections. We will contact you by February 16 regarding our decision. Application Process Schedule: October 15: Application is posted. December 15: Applications are due. We will still accept applications on a rolling basis, but priority for interviews and placement is given to applicants who apply by the deadline. December 11-22, January 1-5: Interviews with Family Ministries staff February 16: Internship offers are released

3 APPLICATION QUESTIONS 1. Describe your relationship with Jesus. What has it looked like this past semester? 2. What strengths do you bring to a team while working on a project? 3. How will our intern community benefit from having you on the team? 4. What is an area in which you would like to grow this spring? 5. What are some questions, doubts, or thoughts with which you have been recently wrestling about God or spiritual life? How do you process these things? 6. Imagine you re on your way to a camp for middle school-aged students and your bus breaks down. What do you do? 7. Imagine that you are at camp and you have just finished a large group on night three where the speaker was talking about the good news of Jesus. On your way back to your cabin for small group, one of your kids grabs you and asks you to explain what the good news of Jesus is. How would you explain the Gospel to your student? 8. Is there anything else you would like us to know about you? RÉSUMÉ We do not require a specific format for your résumé. Please use the format you believe would clearly most clearly communicate your experience and qualifications. At a minimum, it should include: (1) education, (2) work experience, (3) relevant volunteer experience, (4) any special skills relevant to the internship (e.g. graphic design experience, acting or public speaking experience, etc.) Ready to apply? 4 College Internship Program (multiple positions available) CPC s Vision To boldly extend the invitation Jesus makes to us, to everyone. Overview The College Internship Program provides the opportunity to deepen personal relationship with God, develop leadership skills, and gain valuable job experience. The summer experience at CPC provides tangible opportunities to be a part of the local church in new and exciting ways. Summer interns are a part of the Family Ministries team and work with either the Kids Ministries or Student Ministries teams to plan and implement summer activities including summer camps and events. Interns will learn valuable skills including running programming, facilitating logistics, planning details of camp, and recruiting participants. Interns also spend a great deal of time every day developing and deepening their own spiritual lives through large group discussions, Bible study, personality assessments, engaging with art, and experiencing different elements of the city. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Help plan and implement summer camps and events, including programming, administration, and leading Meet with staff members of assigned team (either Kids or Students) Attend weekly staff meetings Attend daily spiritual development time Build and maintain relationships with kids or students and engage in weekly contact work Attend all Wednesday night Chillin & Grillin events, and other College Ministry events throughout the summer OTHER DUTIES Set aside time each week for spiritual development, formation, and learning Occasionally teach at camps or events Occasionally participate in CPC programs, including weekend services, special services, or other leadership events MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Actively pursue a relationship with Christ Ability to engage kids and students in authentic and relational ways Experience working with and leading kids, middle school or high school students Ability to work well on a team and be a collaborative team member Desire to learn and grow in leadership and seek to maintain a learning posture Ability to adapt to unexpected changes and be flexible as needed
5 Ability to collaborate consistently with other teams for shared vision and goals achievement Proactive communicator and strong team player Self-starter, strong work ethic Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) One year post-high school graduation PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Leadership skills and abilities Relational gifts Basic understanding of vocational ministry with a desire to learn more Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage details and multi-task PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended times POSITION REPORTING: The College Interns report to the Director of Leadership & College and to a lead staff person on the team to which they are assigned (either Kids Ministries or Student Ministries). HOURS: This is a seasonal, temporary position that runs from May 29, 2018 through August 2, It is a 40+ hours per week role that requires flexibility in hours and travel. COMPENSATION: Stipend, paid out over the course of May 29, 2018 through August 2, 2018 TRAVEL: This position requires travel to camps and retreats as assigned based on role and ministry needs. All dates are subject to change: Intern Retreat, May (overnight) Chillin & Grillin, Wednesday nights (weekly) Camps both overnight and day, these are TBD based on the ministry and team to which you are assigned This job description describes the general nature and work expected of an individual assigned to this position.
