Short-Response Questions Problem Your mom asks you to help her at her office for a few weeks. She offers to pay you $50 the first day with an 18% raise each day. You make a counteroffer to receive $50 the first day but with a $10 raise each day. Which payment option is a better deal for you? Full-credit solution Mom s offer is plan A; your offer is plan B. Day Plan A pay Plan A total Plan B pay Plan B total The question is answered clearly and in complete sentences. Plan B is better if you work 3 days or less, but Plan A is better if you work more than 4 days. By day 6, the pay with the 18% increase is more than the pay with a $10 raise, so it will continue to be the better plan. Partial-credit solution I think Plan A is better than Plan B.
