1 Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Full Course Fee: S$ (S$ exclusive of GST) 90% WDA Funding: S$16.05 (S$15.00 exclusive of GST) 15 hours (3 sessions/5 hours) - Beginners Full Course Fee: S$ (S$ exclusive of GST) 90% WDA Funding: S$32.10 (S$30.00 exclusive of GST) BEGINNER LEVEL The 15-hour Beginner module is targeted at adult learners who are able to execute very basic operations when numbers are given. Learners in the Beginner module can interpret basic numerals and recognise basic charts and graphs. They may face some difficulties in interpreting a basic payroll stub; complete a simple order form and do calculations. In terms of their employability, they can handle jobs and/or training that involve very basic numerals and will require frequent assistance and clarifications. The class ratio between lecturer and student is 1: hours (10 sessions/3 hours) - Intermediate/Advanced INTERMEDIATE LEVEL The Intermediate module is targeted at adult learners who are able to calculate a simple operation when numbers are given and make simple changes. Learners in the Intermediate module can interpret simple charts and graphs; interpret a basic payroll stub; complete a simple order form and do calculations. In terms of their employability, they can handle jobs and/or training that involve basic diagrams that can be clarified orally. The class ratio between lecturer and student is 1:20. ADVANCED LEVEL The Advanced module is for adult learners who are able to use mathematics in business, such as calculating discounts and can create and use tables and graphs. Learners in the advanced module are able to perform tasks with reasonable accuracy to meet work needs. In terms of their employability, they can understand work-related conversations and interact with the public. They are able to meet work demands with confidence and follow written instructions in work manuals. The class ratio between lecturer and student is 1:20.

4 Workplace Literacy (WPL) - Comprehensive Full Course Fee: S$1, (S$ exclusive of GST) 90% WDA Funding: S$ (S$ exclusive of GST) Workplace option is available COURSE DESCRIPTION WPL (Comprehensive) comprises of three modules Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, and at 90 hours per module. The four learning areas for the WPL (Comprehensive) modules are - Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Beginner Level The Beginner s module is targeted at adults who may function with difficulties in situations related to immediate needs and may have some simple oral communication abilities using basic learned phrases and sentences. Learners in the Beginner s module may be able to read and write letters and numbers, a limited number of sight words and simple phrases related to immediate needs. They will be able to write basic personal information on simplified forms. In terms of their employability, they can handle routine entry-level jobs that involve only basic oral and written communication in English and in which all tasks can be demonstrated. 90 hours (30 sessions/3 hours or 15 sessions/6 hours) Intermediate Level The Intermediate module is targeted at adults who may have basic survival needs for very routine social demands. They understand simple learnt phrases easily and simple phrases containing familiar vocabulary, spoken slowly with frequent repetition. Learners in the Intermediate module may be able to interpret simple material on familiar topics such as simple directions, schedules, signs, maps and menus. They may be able to fill out forms requiring basic personal information and write short, simple notes and messages based on familiar situations. In terms of their employability, they can handle jobs and/or training that involve basic oral and written instructions and diagrams if they can be clarified orally. Advanced Level The Advanced module is for adult learners who are able to function independently in survival and work situations. Learners can clarify general meaning and communicate on the telephone on familiar topics. They can participate effectively in social and familiar work situations; can understand and participate in practical and social conversations and in technical discussions in their own field. Learners in the advanced module are able to handle most reading and writing tasks related to life roles, can read and interpret most non-simplified materials; can interpret routine charts, graphs and labels; fill out medical information forms and job applications. In terms of their employability, they can understand work-related conversations and interact with the public. They are able to meet work demands with confidence and follow written instructions in work manuals.
