2 Course Description: English 1302 focuses college-level and research techniques while emphasizing the writing process of argumentation and critical thinking skills. Course Objectives and/or Competencies: A. Upon successful completion of this course, students will: a. Students will complete various writing assignments. (SLOs 5 & 6) b. Students will analyze rhetorical strategies used in argumentative writing. (SLOs 5 & 6) 2

3 c. Students will demonstrate competency in using rhetorical strategies to construct their own argumentative essay. (SLOs 1-6) d. Students will competently apply the MLA style of citation and documentation. (SLOs 1-6) e. Students will structure arguments persuasively. f.
