Mindspark equips school with a state of the art infrastructure like Tablets and Campus WiFi to enable tomorrow s education, today, so that every student moves ahead with time. A personalized platform that individually guides each child to a brighter future. Every child is unique in his learning and should be taught with individual attention. Mindspark works at every individual student s level, pace and path by gauging their level of understanding and learning patterns. A present for teachers to create a better tomorrow. Teachers are one of the most important elements of education. The growing importance of education requires a teacher to be a specialist in the field and impart knowledge in an engaging way so as to keep the students involved. With Mindspark, teachers can have a systematic tool to their disposal, which assists them in all their functions and delivers uniform progress to all the students. Mindspark works like an assistant teacher with every child and offers real time reports and analysis giving immediate insights on students progress and learning gaps, thus allowing teachers to differentiate instructions depending on each child s needs. An engaging and interactive platform that makes students enjoy what they learn. Mindspark is an enjoyable visual experience for students where they can explore their way through concepts and learn from their errors. With an interactive and playful user interface, students can have fun while getting deeper insights into the science of Mathematics. Mindspark aims at showing students the beauty of numbers through technology and engaging animations so they can appreciate the subject and build their logic and reasoning at a young age when the mind can be most effectively trained and moulded.
Mindspark in a nutshell mindspark in a nutshell 07 A customized self learning platform with a global database Mindspark is a cloud-based platform that is here to revolutionize the study of Mathematics. It focuses on self-learning with a curriculum integrated database to develop key concepts and skills in children, at their own pace. An interactive product, from the makers of ASSET, Mindspark has been derived from the belief of personalized learning. Every child is unique in his learning and should be taught with individual attention. Adaptive to the changing needs of education, Mindspark aims at making Maths easy to understand and fun to learn. A present for teachers to create a better tomorrow Mindspark seamlessly integrates into the school curriculum and works like an assistant teacher to every student. Mindspark also generates real time comprehensive reports on students understanding and misconceptions, providing teachers with an insight into the students learning patterns. Mindspark is available for Maths from class 1 to class 10. A platform which caters to each child s needs Each student logs in with his unique ID and password and learns by solving problems and answering questions of increasing difficulty and complexity levels. With an active and detailed database, Mindspark monitors the level of understanding in each concept and patiently helps the students when they are in doubt by resolving errors and misconceptions through explanations.
How mindspark does it! how mindspark does it 09 Ask questions Triggers critical thinking Provides feedback Adapts to child level Offers relevant Intervention Thought Provoking Mindspark, through inquiry based learning and granularly designed questioning ensures a student is progressing on the basis of real understanding and not textual mugging. This question grading is based on a study of the data collected over the years through large scale assessments like ASSET and international research. Ensures Learning with understanding Mindspark focuses on learning with understanding, instead of rote based learning. By providing brief, but frequent, exposure to graded problems in a topic, Mindspark gradually helps a child to learn the topic with minimum assistance from parents and beyond school teaching. Instantaneous Feedback Instantaneous feedback offers a seamless experience to students and ensures deeper understanding. Explanations are targeted at specific mistakes, enhancing motivation and the will to work harder. Adapts to Each Child Adaptive logic enhances personalize learning. It helps children of all ability levels to progress at their own pace, path, and understanding. Mindspark is an intelligent computer system that uses a complex adaptive logic to decide what problem to serve up to a student next, based on his response to the current problem and problems answered earlier. Pre-emptive & Relevant Intervention The system also identifies when a student needs help to understand a concept and addresses them through a variety of tools examples, animated displays, Interactive Multimedia and more.
how mindspark how mindspark 10 does it does it 11 A Mindspark Instance Following is a case study that demonstrates how personalized learning through Mindspark yields better results. Three Students started Mindspark at the same level but depending on their response Mindspark took them on different Path, only to yield better results and fundamental improvement. Student 1 answered the first question wrong and was asked an easier question. When he attempted it correctly, Mindspark offered him a slightly more difficult question, though not as difficult as the first one. For Student 2 who kept answering correct; Mindspark took him to higher level. Wherein for Student 3 who kept answering incorrectly, Mindspark asked him more and more simple questions. student 1 student 2 student 3 Advantages of Personalized Learning The most important aspect of Mindspark is its ability to dynamically adapt to a child s level of understanding. This feature of Mindspark decides the path that a child will take, the pace that a child is comfortable with, the understanding levels and the learning gaps. Every question or answer in MS is connected to some specific understanding of the child. On the basis of the answer of student, whether right or wrong, Mindspark will adapt itself and provide relevant intervention to either strengthen the understanding or to offer higher level content. Mindspark helps clear learning gaps. In a regular classroom, different students have different misconceptions, which make them stand at different understanding levels. They may or may not have understood a concept thoroughly, making it practically impossible for a teacher to diagnose where individual students stand and learning gaps are. Mindspark helps identify these & even clears the gaps allowing students to grow beyond their grade level. before mindspark after mindspark
how mindspark customized 12 does it curriculum 13 How should Mindspark be integrated in the classroom? Weekly calendar for a teacher... Customized Curriculum Mindspark allows a high level of customization. Mindspark can be configured to match the curriculum each school is using. Schools can select the standard flow line like CBSE, ICSE, Mindspark Recommended or can customize for IGCSE or completely as per the school curriculum. Monday Teacher teaches a new topic in class Teacher activates the same topic in Mindspark tuesday Students practise the topic activated Mindspark highlights misconceptions and generates teacher reports that help in preparing her next lesson plans Sr. no. Learning unit MS recommended CBSE ICSE Customized 1 Basic understanding of half & quarter 2 Naming fractions and understanding fraction notation 3 Working with unit fractions 4 Understanding mixed numbers wednesday Teacher clarifies the misconceptions in class Mindspark generates students reports & highlights problems area in the topic thursday Mindspark assess if the child has understood the concepts thoroughly Mindspark generates a reports of the problem areas with specific questions that the students found difficult 5 Introduction to comparision of fractions 6 Understanding improper fractions 7 Estimating the value of fractional numbers friday Teacher discusses particular questions and ensures that the students are ready to learn the next topic.
Support services customized support services 14 curriculum 15 The teachers can then select the Topic and Subtopic to be activated and customize it according to the topic being taught in class. Teachers can also view the sample questions for each sub topic and learning unit. Currently your default curriculum is icse. sample class 7 Section a Topic Activation date Deactivation date Recommended class range Flow Algebra Formulae 7-9 ICSE Algebra- Basic concepts, expressions 6-9 ICSE and equations Linear equations in one variable 6-9 ICSE Polynomials- Zereos, Remainder theorem 7-10 ICSE and Factor theorem Patterns, relations and functions 6-8 ICSE Sets ICSE Fractions and decimals Decimals ICSE Operations on fractions 4-8 ICSE geometry Congruence of triangles ICSE Mindspark is backed by a robust support service. A Detailed orientation Programme for teachers and students ensures that they are comfortable with the platform. On-going support visits to the schools help teachers understand and utilize Mindspark to its optimum level. A resource person from our side will be spearheading the program and its implementation in the school. The resource person will regularly coordinate with the teachers to - Monitor the progress of the students and understand the specific mistakes they are making with respect to the portions covered in the class Use the reports, activate topics and deactivate topics so that Mindspark runs in sync with the class curriculum Dedicated IT Support executive: Mindspark will also offer Mindspark coordinator dedicated for each school. The Mindspark coordinator will be responsible for the mobility of Trolleys in Schools and ensuring smooth functioning of the IT infrastructure. The Mindspark Coordinator will be working in accordance with the school timing and will relieve teachers from network and infrastructure hurdles, helping them focus on creating learning opportunities for students.
One difference we have seen right from the beginning as soon as Mindspark started our students appreciation & liking towards the subject. Generally we have noticed that students have block towards Maths, find something difficult, something which is not fun at all. But having used Mindspark they are learning to appreciate it. And with that appreciation, effort is coming from their side. Ms. Rukma Naik, Managing Trustee, Manovikas School, Goa Mindspark for Students Learn at your own pace Students feel more comfortable when they are allowed to learn and progress at their own pace. Mindspark offers students the right level of challenges so that they can progressively learn. A student can go below or beyond the grade level for clearing the learning gaps. Interactive and User-Friendly program With animation and interactive multimedia students find Mindspark very engaging. Mindspark rewards students for better performance. With instant feedback students know the right approach to solve a problem, motivating them to do more. Learning with understanding Mindspark is based on the philosophy of learning with understanding; hence it is entirely focused on critical thinking and understanding the concept rather than just rote learning. Better conceptual understanding leads to better performance in exams. Thorough Practice leading to Perfection Mindspark builds rigor in the students. Mindspark can also be done from home apart from schools helping students learn independently. In Mindspark an average student does about 3000 questions a year, giving sufficient practice to student where they need it the most. mindspark for students 17
Mindspark for Teachers An Assistant to every Teacher For Teachers Mindspark is like an assistant teacher. Mindspark helps teachers with detailed insights on students understanding and misconceptions right after the topic is being taught in the class. Improves Teaching Effectiveness Teachers get real time insight on students progress. Teachers can group students with common learning gaps, allowing them to offer differentiated instructions to the class depending on learning patterns. Teachers can learn exactly which concept a student is struggling with, allowing them to offer personalized intervention. Curriculum Implementation Mindspark gets completely integrated into the school curriculum. The advanced customization option allows teachers to personalize, monitor and control student activities on topic, subtopic and atomic concept level. Teachers can activate the topic they are teaching in the class, give homework, activate revision and see students trail with the help of Mindspark. Every Math teacher in the school was initially up in arms when Mindspark was introduced Teachers said that, we have 5 math classes in a week and you give away 2 classes to Mindspark i.e was actually cutting down time for math classes for teachers. But now all of them has started saying that I have benefitted from Mindspark classes as it s not 2 classes taking away from me but actually 2 periods enabling me to become better teacher. Ms. Sinduja T.S, Academic QMS Head, Inventure Academy, Bangalore

Educational Initiatives (EI) Established in 2001, EI believes in making a difference in education through personalised learning and ensuring that students learn with understanding. EI has over 15 years of expertise in education, with a deep understanding of child psychology and efficient methods of teaching. This is based on detailed research and a formidable database of student learning through ASSET Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing, a scientifically designed skill-based assessment. ASSET has assessed over 2 million students from India, UAE, Bangladesh, Kuwait and Singapore. A competitive team of professionals and strong trust based relationships shared with schools in India and abroad over the past 10 years makes it possible for EI to address fundamental problems of learning. EI is also working with leading organizations like World Bank, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Google, Azim Premji Foundation, Duke University, USA and is doing large scale assessment projects with various State Governments. EI is also recognized as an official Supplement Education Service provider in Texas, USA and is doing a study for Government of Bhutan that requires assessment of each and every child and teacher in the country. Some of the offerings of EI are: ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing) A diagnostic test offered to students from Class 3 to Class 10. Detailed Assessment - A tool for the teachers to assess on regular intervals with detailed diagnostic results made available within 48 hours to plan remedial action. Mindspark - A computer based adaptive self-learning system that allows the student to construct his/her own learning, at a pace he/ she is comfortable with. Large Scale Assessments - These include large assessment projects mostly initiated by state governments or other organizations. Unique features about Mindspark are Space, Pace, Race. Space, which is personal, pace is again self decided and there is no race. And all our children enjoy Mindspark because if something is not working then we get plenty of complaints from the parents and when we don t get complaints, it means it is working very well. Mr. M. Srinivasan Chairman, Gear Innovative School, Bangalore Cannot do without Mindspark classes today, if for some reason there is a problem in the internet, children are up their arms to their teachers, we have to do something now, this minute i.e. the state of affair with Mindspark. Mrs. S. Bolar Founder Principal, Innisfree House School, Bangalore We have taken written feedback from parents and 100% parents felt that Mindspark is the best part of Sishya School today.
