1 1 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) 1. QUESTION: How do I find my course in the Learning Management System (LMS)? ANSWER: Log in to the Learning Management System. Go to Use the and password used to register. Follow these instructions: Select Go to My Learning at the top right of the screen (shown below). The system will direct you to the Learning Management System. Select the course in the My Home> Select a Course drop down list at the top left of the screen (shown below). Select TABLE OF CONTENTS at the bottom left of the screen (shown below) to enter the course. 2. QUESTION: What is the Learning Management System (LMS)?

2 ANSWER: The Learning Management System is the online platform containing all of the continuing education courses purchased through the Nursing Knowledge Center. After purchasing a course at learners will be directed into the LMS to access important course information, course content, and complete the process for claiming continuing education (CE) credit if applicable. This is the indicator that you are in the LMS. It is located in the top left of your Home screen. The My Home screen is where you will search for your courses by clicking the down arrow next to Select a course QUESTION: Do I have to go into the Learning Management System (LMS) for live, face-to-face workshops? ANSWER: Yes. Learners are required to enter the LMS to complete all courses purchased through the Nursing Knowledge Center. This supports accurate and convenient record keeping for learners. Retrieve CE certificates and learner transcripts independently by clicking the buttons below at the bottom left of your My Home screen.

3 4. QUESTION: Do I need to complete anything in the Learning Management System (LMS) before arriving for a live, face-to-face workshop? ANSWER: Yes. Learners need to review the disclaimer and disclosure documents prior to attending a live, face-toface workshop. Review of the Required Disclosures and Required Disclaimers is required before access to the course content is released. 3 Agenda and Participant Handouts are available for review in the LMS. A program workbook will be provided onsite at live, face-to-face workshops. Research shows that lecture accompanied by reading of PowerPoint slides is not effective in producing optimal learning and retention. Activities such as note taking, discussion, and problem solving enhance the learning experience and support knowledge retention. Thus, ANA s Nursing Knowledge Center (NKC) is moving toward a more evidence-based methodology for educational offerings to enhance the learning experience. To further help you achieve your goal of successfully passing the certification exam, NKC recommends that you purchase the Certification Review Manual from NursesBooks.org and review it prior to coming to the workshop. Some workshop participants find it helpful to bring the manual to the workshop to follow along. QUESTION: What do I need to do after the live, face-to-face workshops to claim contact hours/ce certificate.

4 ANSWER: After the workshop, complete the verification of attendance and survey/evaluations to release the CE certificate. Sample pages shown below. 4 Review of the course content (agenda, participant handouts, and verification of attendance) is required before the CE evaluation will be released. Clicking the arrow at the top right hand of the screen will direct you to the next required item within each module (the Course Information Module, Course Content Module, and then Course Evaluation Module). Look for checkmarks to the right of the document or learning activity as indication of completion in the system. The CE Evaluation (Figure 3) will not open without first opening the disclaimer and disclosure documents, agenda, participant handouts, and verification of attendance (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
