While workload in the study group may or may not be exactly even during the course of the year, each individual should contribute some added value to the group. 4 See the Vision Our team consists of a melting pot of individuals from all around the globe, which serves as a unique foundation for a group seeking a common set of goals. During the upcoming year, we aim to deliver a strong performance both as individuals and as a cohesive team: We will leverage the diverse collection of minds at hand and, ultimately, facilitate each others individual development through synergy and effective communication. We advocate the promotion of thoughtful feedback and ongoing accountability to create a highly collaborative and unselfish team environment. We will each experience managerial development by means of a periodic rotation of the team leadership role, which offers the invaluable opportunity to take free rein and coordinate the study group sessions as he/she sees fit. We will have fun during the school year and truly appreciate our time spent as MBA students at UNC Kenan- Flagler. At the culmination of five intense months of classes, recruiting and extra- curricular activities, we would be remiss to exclude this commonly overlooked goal. 5 Recognize Potential Obstacles Academic Challenges: As a team, we have different backgrounds and goals that we must consider in working together efficiently and effectively. Different personalities Possible health problems (illness, accidents) Rival football passions Plan for Success Meeting Time and Format We commit to meeting weekdays between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. While we understand there may be occasion for weekend meeting times, we commit to try to accomplish group tasks during the business week. We commit to the following regularly scheduled meeting times: Mod I: Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 A.M.- 10:30 A.M. Mod II: Tuesday, Thursday: 9:30 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. Meetings can be called/rescheduled by any group member with at least 12 hours advance notice in the spirit of giving everyone sufficient time to plan to be available. Ground Rules In order to foster a team experience that is efficient, engaging, insightful, fair, and fun, we commit to the following rules and infraction schedule: 5 Study Group B4 Charter

6 Punctual: Show up to scheduled team events at the agreed- upon time. With the understanding that conflicts will inevitably arise, give the other team members reasonable notice if you will be unable to attend or will arrive late to a scheduled event. Notification less than thirty minutes prior to a scheduled team event will constitute an absence. Prepared: Tasks, assignments, and objectives will be established and communicated during team events with specific emphasis on leveraging individual skill sets and experiences and personal and professional development. Complete established tasks, assignments, and objectives prior to scheduled events. Respectful: Basically, follow the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. Participatory: Recognizing the value of the diversity of perspectives, experiences, and skill sets to the success of the team, share them. Free riding is not allowed. Infractions Schedule 1 st Offense: Free pass, lucky you. Everybody makes mistakes. 2 nd Offense: Public humiliation, or rather in- group humiliation. 1 3 rd Offense: Offender brings coffee & donuts to the next meeting. 4 th Offense: 360- feedback session at next meeting to immediately address the situation. Decision Structure Democracy Rules: In the event of disagreement, a vote will be taken and the majority vote rules. Once a decision has been reached, each team member will fully commit to it. Team Leader Description and objective: The Team Leader will oversee the operation of the study team. This is an opportunity to develop and practice leadership, organization, and management skills. Responsibilities: For each team event held during his/her tenure, the Team Leader will be responsible for developing and communicating an agenda with specific action items for completion. Additionally, the Team Leader will be responsible for preparing and delivering a report for any outstanding team items to the subsequent Team Leader by the end of his/her term (Friday 11:59 P.M.). Rotation guidelines: The Team Leader term will be two weeks long and will start at 12:00 A.M. Saturday and end on the second following Friday at 11:59 P.M. The rotation for the first five Team Leader terms will be determined randomly, with each team member serving one of the first five terms. Subsequent Team Leader terms will be open first to a volunteer from those team members who have not served a second term. Absent a volunteer, the Team Leader will be chosen randomly from those team members who have not served a second term. 7 member may serve consecutive terms and all team members commit to sharing this responsibility equally. Feedback: At the end of each Team Leader term, the Team Leader is requested to provide constructive feedback on the performance of each of the other team members. Likewise, team members are also requested to provide constructive feedback on the performance of the Team Leader. Feedback shall be provided in the recipient s medium of choice. Project Leader Description and objective: The Project Leader will oversee the operation of a specific project. This is an additional opportunity to develop and practice leadership, organization, and management skills. Responsibilities: For each team event held during his/her tenure, the Project Leader will be responsible for developing and communicating an agenda with specific action items for completion related to the project. Rotation guidelines: For the sake of continuity, a Project Leader term will last for the duration of the related project. The selection of the first five Project Leader positions will be open first to a volunteer from those team members who have not yet served as a Project Leader. Absent a volunteer, a Project Leader will be chosen randomly from those team members who have not yet been selected to serve as a Project Leader. After each team member has either volunteered or been selected to serve as a Project Leader once, subsequent Project Leader positions will be open first to a volunteer. Absent a volunteer, a Project Leader will be chosen randomly from those team members who are not currently serving as a Project Leader and who have not served as many times as the team member with the most Project Leader positions served. Feedback: At the end of each Project Leader term, the Project Leader is requested to provide constructive feedback on the performance of each of the other team members. Likewise, team members are requested to provide constructive feedback on the performance of the Team Leader. Feedback shall be provided in the recipient s medium of choice.
