2 The Castle Lesson Plan Part One 1. Put the Definitions for Wall from page 16 around the classroom at eye-level. In pairs, students walk around and read the definitions to become familiarised with them. 2. Each student takes one of the Vocabulary Activity Cards from page 15, and finds their partner (one shaded and one non-shaded card to match) and check with the teacher for confirmation. 3. When students have all paired up, the pairs walk around the classroom to find the correct definition for their vocabulary item (checking with the teacher for confirmation) and stick their words next to the definition. 4. With their partners, students walk around and read the vocabulary items with their matching definitions. 5. Give students a copy of the Vocabulary Activity Student s Worksheet on page 17 so they can match together the vocabulary items and definitions. 6. Check answers together as a class, assisting with pronunciation and clarifying any further questions about the definitions or usage of the vocabulary items. Step 2: - More than 16 students? Make copies of page 15 and 16 on different coloured paper for each group of 16 students. - Fewer than 16 students? Use half of the vocabulary item and definition cards, and repeat Steps 2-4 with the remaining cards. Step 4 option: Add some fun by testing your students memory of the vocabulary items before handing out the Vocabulary Activity Student s Worksheet. Read out the vocabulary definitions and have students (in groups) write down the correct vocabulary item. Write the first letter of each word on the whiteboard as a clue, if necessary. Although the verb phrase compulsorily acquired is used in the Vocabulary Activity, the noun phrase compulsory acquisition is also used in the film. You may wish to discuss this phrase with your students.
