1 We are looking for volunteers who are Dependable and faith filled Enthusiastic about working with children Excited about helping at VBS Patient and kind VBS VOLUNTEER POSITIONS Many hands make light work. Together we make this program a great experience! There are many different ways you can help, some working with the kids during VBS and some behind the scenes on your own schedule. There is something for everyone. You choose where you want to help. We believe that if you work at something you like, then it will be easy for you and you will enjoy it. DIRECTOR and CO DIRECTOR 2 Adult Volunteers These positions have a 3 year time commitment -1 year as Co Director and then 2 years as Director. Time: These positions involve advanced planning and being at VBS from 8:15-12:30 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You are the hub of the wheel. Your view is on the whole program and dividing it up into manageable parts which you give to volunteers who focus on that part of the program. Your role is to plan and recruit and support volunteers to help the program run smoothly for campers, their parents and the volunteers. You ll enjoy being Director/Co Director if you enjoy Planning and organizing CREW LEADER DIRECTOR (Jr. Counselor Supervisor) - 1 Adult Volunteer Time: This position involves some advanced planning & training and being at VBS from 8:15-12:15 Monday - Friday. Responsibilities: The Jr. Counselors play a very important role in the program. They work directly with the kids and help them to learn while having fun and being safe. Your role is to recruit, train and manage the Jr. Counselors helping them understand their role and assisting them with any challenges they have. Work together with the Director to find positive solutions if necessary. You ll enjoy being Crew Leader Director if you enjoy Working with older kids and teenagers Teaching and supervising kids Motivating people Being positive and enthusiastic for all areas of VBS OPENING 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Time: These positions involve some advanced planning and being at VBS from 8:15-9:45 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You are the kick off. You introduce the theme of the day with music, a skit and interacting with the campers. Your role is to plan, prepare and lead the opening of VBS each day with enthusiasm and positive energy. You ll enjoy leading Opening if you enjoy Making people laugh CRAFTS 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors

2 Responsibilities: You teach the kids to make a craft which reinforces the theme of the day. Your role is to plan, prepare and lead 1 craft each day and reinforce the message of the day. You ll enjoy leading Crafts if you enjoy Arts and crafts and giving step by step instructions MISSIONS 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Responsibilities: Each year the VBS program includes an outreach or mission project to help underprivileged children here in the US or around the world. You teach the kids to make something which will be given to these underprivileged children. Your role is to plan, prepare and lead the making of the item, teaching about the people who will receive it, and reinforce the theme/message of the day. You ll enjoy leading Missions if you enjoy Teaching about and helping people in need Arts and Crafts GAMES 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Responsibilities: You reinforce the message through games. Your role is to plan, prepare and lead 2 games each day and reinforce the theme/message of the day. You ll enjoy leading Games if you enjoy Participating in sports/games Being active in outdoor recreational activities Encouraging others to do their best Being positive, active, energetic Organizing and motivating children BIBLE STORY - 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Responsibilities: You reinforce the message by telling a story from the Bible. Your role is to plan, prepare and tell 1 story each day and reinforce the theme/message of the day. You ll enjoy leading Bible Story if you enjoy MUSIC / DVD THEATER - 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Responsibilities: You reinforce the message through music and a movie. Your role has 2 parts each day 1) teaching 2-3 songs and motions and 2) showing a short movie and discussing how it relates to the daily message. The songs and movie clip for each day reinforce the theme/message for that day and you help the campers make that connection. Your role also involves helping to lead the music (singing and motions so the kids can follow you) at the Opening and Finale each day with enthusiasm and positive energy. You ll enjoy leading Music if you enjoy

3 Singing and/or playing a musical instrument Directing or singing in the choir Acting in plays and skits Watching movies Operating electronic equipment SNACKS - 2 Adult Volunteers Time: This position involves advanced planning and being at VBS from 8:15-11:15 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You reinforce the message through food. Your role has 2 parts each day 1) making and serving the snack. You help the campers make the connection between the snack and the daily message; and 2) leading prayer, teaching about a saint who demonstrated living the daily message and leading discussion about how the campers can live the daily message. You ll enjoy leading Snack Prep if you enjoy Preparing and serving food Working in a kitchen or restaurant Organizing and supervising teams of people Leading prayer and discussions SNACK PREP - 4 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Time: This position involves being at VBS from 8:30-11:00 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You prepare and serve the snack, set the tables and clean up. You ll enjoy leading Snack Prep if you enjoy Preparing and serving food Working in a kitchen or restaurant Working behind the scenes SPOTLIGHT DRAMA / PHOTOGRAPHER 1 or 2 Adult Volunteers Time: This position involves a little advanced planning and being at VBS from 10:00-12:15 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You create a slide show of the campers acting out the message or story of the day. Your role is to direct the campers and photograph them according to the script, then insert the photos into a slide show template provided by the program and show the slide show at the Finale each day at VBS. Your role also involves making copies of the slideshow onto DVDs to give to families. You ll enjoy leading Spotlight Drama if you enjoy Using a camera and photographing people Working with kids Acting Working with computer graphics Creating multimedia presentations FINALE - 2 Adult Volunteers + 2 Jr. Counselors Time: These positions involve advanced planning and being at VBS from 11:15-12:15 Monday through Friday. Responsibilities: You are the send off. You review the theme of the day with music, a skit and interact with the campers. Your role is to plan, prepare and lead the finale of VBS each day with enthusiasm and positive energy, inviting the campers to come back again tomorrow and live what they learned today!

4 You ll enjoy leading the Finale if you enjoy Making people laugh GROUP LEADERS - 8 Adult Volunteers Time: These positions involve some advanced training and being at VBS from 8:15-12:15 each day. No advanced planning. Responsibilities: You take care of a group of campers and 4-6 Jr. Counselors. You will take them from one activity to another. Your role is to help the Jr. Counselors manage the campers, to reinforce the daily message and help the campers connect it to their daily life. You ll enjoy being Group Leader if you enjoy Being with kids Keeping track of many things (children, their belongings, schedule and snack) You want to help but you don t want to plan or teach CREW LEADERS (JR COUNSELORS) - Kids grades Volunteers Time: These positions involve some advanced training and being at VBS from 8:15-12:15 each day. No advanced planning. Responsibilities: There are two different ways Jr. Counselors can help. 1) Take care of a group of 4-6 campers. Your role is to help the campers to learn while having fun and being safe. You also help the campers connect the daily message to their daily life. Or 2) Help in a specific Area, either Crafts, Games, Bible Story, Music/DVD Theater, Snack, Missions, Opening, or Finale. You ll enjoy being Crew Leader if you enjoy Being with kids Having fun Being positive and enthusiastic for all areas of VBS Crafts, games, acting, singing and dancing, or cooking Running electronic equipment DVD and CD DECORATING 6-8 Adult Volunteers + Jr. Counselors Time: These positions involve advanced planning and decorating the Saturday and Sunday before VBS. Responsibilities: You set the stage for our fun and learning. Your role is to plan, prepare and decorate the Hall for VBS, coordinate efforts and share resources with Our Lady of the Angels and First Parish Churches. After the decorations are made and collected, volunteers are needed for hanging decorations and moving furniture too. The more the merrier You ll enjoy being on the Decorating Committee if you enjoy Arts & Crafts Decorating creating and designing scenery Using your imagination Meeting new people PUBLICITY 2 Adult Volunteers Time: These positions are totally independent and can be done at your home at your convenience.

5 Responsibilities: You let people know about VBS. Your role is to plan, prepare and put out publicity for VBS. You ll enjoy being on the Publicity Committee if you enjoy Arts & Crafts Computer Graphics Writing Spreading the word REGISTRATION - 2 Adult Volunteers Time: These positions involve some advanced training and being at VBS from 8:15-9:15 each day. No advanced planning Responsibilities: You greet people when they arrive at VBS. Your role is to greet, register and direct campers to their groups. You ll enjoy leading Registration if you enjoy Attention to details Being organized Greeting people Being friendly and outgoing Interacting with children and parents
