2 The Role of the Tutor at Ricards Tutor time sessions are 20 minutes in the morning To register your daughter during tutor time To teach your daughter PSHE once a week To ensure that your daughter is happy, safe and successful at Ricards Lodge. Like you, tutors are responsible for checking students attendance and punctuality.

3 Role of the Tutor cont To support your daughter in making exceptional levels of progress. To focus students minds on achievement through learning. To encourage high standards of behaviour and uniform in students. To check and sign your daughter s planner on a weekly basis. Please ensure you sign your daughter s planner over the weekend To check your daughter s uniform and equipment each morning. Your daughter will earn VIVOs for having the correct equipment and uniform (or a detention, if it is incorrect)

4 Expectations We expect all students to behave in line with our Behaviour for Learning policy If a student has been placed in a Central detention (by a subject teacher), they must attend on the same day for 30 minutes. We have a one warning system. If a student fails to attend a Central detention, they will be expected to attend a Senior Leadership Detention which lasts for one hour. A letter will be sent home.

5 Daily Routine Students should be in their tutor room by 8:30am. Tutor rooms and the library are open from 8am. School canteen is open from 7.45am. Students later than 8:35am will be automatically registered as late and will have to sit a Late Detention after school, that day, for 30 minutes. Homework club runs from pm daily in an ICT suite MONDAY KS3 Assembly TUESDAY Silent Reading, planner signing and equipment check WEDNESDAY Attendance Tracker THURSDAY Circle Time / Current Affairs Quiz FRIDAY Year 7 Assembly NB. Students may be placed in support sessions during tutor time

6 Attendance and Punctuality Procedures Attendance Office Parents should telephone before 8.30am if your daughter is unwell and unable to attend school, or has an appointment that will mean she arrives to school late. Signing in and out: If your daughter has to attend an appointment for medical reasons and needs to leave school early, we must have a letter or appointment card from GP/hospital together with a note in her planner 2 days before the appointment, to give her the opportunity to get this signed by her Head of Year. On the day of the appointment she needs to go to the Attendance Office to get her planner stamped before leaving school via the Main Office.

7 Attendance Tracker Each week tutors receive a report based on your daughter s attendance. The attendance is categorised into colours based on risk factors that affect achievement. Tutors will discuss this with your daughter every week.

10 Inclusion Our inclusion department is a team of trained Achievement Mentors who help students with their emotional well-being; ranging from anxiety to bereavement. If you are worried about your daughter s well-being, please contact the school. We always advise parents to consult their GP if they are extremely worried, or their daughter has been displaying unusual behaviour for a prolonged period of time. Transition Groups During the Autumn term we run a number of transition groups where girls are in small groups to support anyone who might find the transition process difficult. This gives girls an opportunity to talk to a mentor and develop their self-esteem and confidence. Not every student needs this support.

11 Extra Curricular Activities/ Clubs Encourage your daughter to join a school club or take part in extra curricular activities. Your daughter can join a number of sports clubs, creative writing club, science club (to name a few) Tutors will encourage students to show off their talents and we will showcase these in assemblies Please also encourage your daughter to read. Your daughter should have a reading book with them during school

13 Curriculum Learning groups set by literacy levels / KS2 English prior attainment/ Assessment day at Ricards French Side = 7R,C,A,D (most academic listed first based on prior attainment) Spanish Side = 7S,L,G,E (most academic listed first based on prior attainment) 7R & 7S also study German Students are in learning groups for all subjects apart from Maths, Technology and PSHE (both mixed ability) Maths is set independently

15 Termly Tracking Report This will be sent home on Friday 15th December 2017 The data and results will be analysed and should there need to be any movement between classes, that will happen within the first few weeks back in January If apparent a student is not in the right learning group, a change maybe needed sooner than this. All students will be assessed in each subject either through formative or summative assessments.

16 Parent Consultation Evening This is taking place on Wednesday 28 th March 2018 This will be your opportunity to discuss any subject specific issues with your daughter s teachers.
