Assign each lyric line to students and have them sing in turns. Switch parts and repeat singing. Time Bomb Have students sit in a circle. Use a timer and set the time. Call out the target color and have students name objects with the color. Have S1 say an object that has the color in the classroom and pass the timer to S2. The student holding the timer when it goes off gets a strike. Repeat this activity several times. T: I see green in the classroom. Which things are green? (giving the timer) You can go first! S1: The clock is green. S2: The book is green. Play Audio Track 31. Have students color the crayons and match them to the correct pictures as they listen to the audio. Give the students enough time to color the crayons. Replay the audio and check the answers together It s brown. 2. It s black. 3. It s pink. D Look at C. Talk with a friend. Have students look at the pictures in Practice C. Have students practice asking and answering in pairs. Switch roles and repeat the activity. Review by having students practice asking and answering using the words on Student Book pages Check to make sure that students pronounce /b/ and /p/ correctly. E Color the bag. Then say. A Listen and say. Use the picture cards and introduce the target words. Have students pick a color for their bag. Encourage them to decorate the bag freely. Walk around and ask what color they are using. If students choose a new color, tell them its name. Now, you can make a new bag just the way you want! You can pick your favorite colors and make it look cool! What are you drawing on your bag? How lovely! Say each word while clapping the syllables to facilitate pronunciation. Have students clap and repeat after you. pink (clap), brown (clap), white (clap), black (clap) Play Audio Track 22 on page 18 as background music during the coloring activity. Practice A Guessing Colors Play Audio Track 29. Have students listen and repeat, pointing to each picture. Pause after each word so that students can follow pink 2. brown 3. white 4. black Say only the first sound of each color and let students guess the color. T: What is the color starting with /p/sound? Ss: It s pink! Point to the objects in the classroom and have students answer. T: Ss: It s. B Listen and say. Presentation Have volunteers present their pictures from Practice E. Guide them to introduce themselves first and then show their pictures. Give praise for sharing their pictures. T: What s your name? What color is your bag? S1: I m. It s. T: Thank you for showing your work! It s lovely! Slap Divide the class into two groups. Have each group stand in a line. Place the word cards from Unit 2 on the board. Show a picture card and ask What color is it? Have each student in the group run to the board and slap the correct word. Whoever is faster gets a point. The group with more points wins. Slap Talk about the picture briefly. Where are they? What s in the classroom? What s Harry pointing to? What color is the desk? 32 UNIT 2 33
5 Lesson 3 Explain to the students that Heads moves one space and Tails moves two spaces. Have the groups play Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who starts first. When G1 flips a coin and moves its marker, have G2 ask If G1 answers correctly, the marker stays on the space. If not, the marker returns to the prior space. The first group to pass the blue paint wins. To reinforce the target language and build confidence through chant C Listen and read. Talk about the pictures briefly. The girl is going to paint. What s she doing? What colors of paint do you see on the table? Look at picture 3. The cat is jumping up to the table. What happened? What colors of paint can you see on the table? To learn punctuation marks question mark (?) exclamation mark (!) Have students pick four colors they like. Write the new colors in order on the board. Play the instrumental version (TG Track 35). Have students sing using the words on the board. Snowball Review the colors from the previous lessons. Have S1 say a color and have S2 repeat it and add another color. Colors accumulate as the game goes on. The student who memorizes the most colors wins. T: Let s play Snowball. First, I will say a color. Hmm, purple!, You have to say purple and say one more color. S1: Purple, green. Three Transparent Bottles with Lids, Water, Color Paint: white, red, yellow, blue Write some interrogative and exclamatory sentences on the board without punctuation What is it /What s marks. Have students write the correct punctuation mark. your name /Wow /Oh my God D Say and act. Have students look at the first picture. Tell students that we ask to greet someone, and that the usual response is I m fine. Thank you. 34 Play Audio Track 32. Have students listen and read the lyrics silently. Replay the audio and have students chant line by line. Replay the audio and have students chant along together. 32 What Color Is It? It s green. It s green. It s orange. It s orange. Green, orange! To review the sentence patterns in Unit 2 through a story To practice the conversation in context by acting out I m fine. Thank you. To practice the words and sentence patterns through a board game red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, white, black I m fine. Thank you. Have students practice in pairs. Ask if anyone would like to perform their role play for the class. Encourage them to use facial expressions and gestures. Introduce more ways to answer the question Instead of saying I m fine, we can say I m great, I m good, I m OK, etc. Mixing Colors Prepare white, red, yellow, and blue paint, and three transparent bottles. Pour some water in the bottles and add white and red, yellow and blue, and red and blue into each bottle. Have the students shake the bottles and observe how the colors change. Here we have three bottles. Let's fill half of each bottle with water. Then let's add red paint and yellow paint to one bottle. Let s close the lid. Who wants to shake this bottle?
