What you put in is what you get out!

Scientific Calculator Without practise of using your own calculator you will be unable to calculate answers correctly in the examination as you will not know how a particular calculator works. You need to be able to check your calculator is in degrees mode.
Maths set You will also be unable to practise effectively at home if you do not have a basic maths set containing a ruler, pencil, rubber, sharpener, compass and protractor. Getting organised now could mean the difference between one grade or the next. It pays to be organised. Having your own equipment is vital to success in Maths!

Memory tricks Use memory tricks including acronyms to help memorise important formulae such as SOHCAHTOA or use mnemonics like: Selly Oak Hospital Can Always Help The Old Aged. Cherry pie s delicious, Apple pies are too C= πd A = πr 2
Spider diagrams On one side of A4 create a spider diagram of the topic on geometry.
Revision flash cards Similar to condensing, purchase small 5 x2 colourful cards, have a question on one side and the answer with lots of detail on the other. Works best with a partner. Create a set of revision cards for area formula of shapes, for example.
Topic list Go through your checklist booklet and highlight the topics you have trouble with. Find some work on these topics either on Doddle or using a revision guide and your class notes. Then see your class teacher if you need further help.
Working through past paper questions is a must for Mathematics revision. However, its what you do after you have attempted a paper or set of questions that will give you the opportunity to achieve a good grade in maths. Use Edexcel past papers: Download past papers from the Edexcel website ( or Edexcel Past Papers App if you have an Apple or Android device. This App gives instant access to all past papers, along with their mark schemes.
Once you have sample questions, work through these without any revision resources at hand, doing them in silence, with no help, for a fixed amount of time. The next step is to mark these to see where you need to develop your understanding further. Attempt the questions you got wrong again but this time using your revision guide, revision cards, spider diagrams or internet resources for help. At this point if you are still unsure then ask a friend and perhaps whatsapp a picture of the question to them. If you are still unsure then bring the question to your teacher.
