1 First Time Passport Login: 4 Simple Steps Step 1: Enter your Name, , and Password Once you are invited to join Passport via , click on the link that directs you to the set-up page. On the set-up page, enter your first and last name, address, and a password. Step 2: Capture Your Profile Photo Once you submit your credentials, you will be prompted to take a picture of yourself. You can take as many pictures as you like and can change your picture anytime. Step 3: Check System Requirements In order for Passport to run smoothly, you ll need to make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Plug-In. If you are not sure if you have the latest versions, simply click on the provided links. Step 4: Your Account is Ready Check your for the activation link You will be provided with a brief overview of the components of Passport (Discover, Expand, Create, Discuss, Perform) and asked to Login to begin make sure to go to your account and activate before you login.

2 Teacher s Quick Start User Guide for Passport Login to Passport (once account is active) 1. Enter your username ( address). 2. Enter your password. 3. Click the Go button Manage Once you are logged into Passport, to begin setting up your account you will be brought to your manage page. The manage page is where you will add your courses, invite students, and activate textbooks. You may add courses by the level you teach or by each class period you teach. For example, if you teach three different class periods of French 1, you may choose to have one course for all of your French 1 students to enroll in. Alternatively, you may choose to have one course for each class, i.e., three different courses or class periods of French 1. Click on Add a Course. Enter the Course Title and Course Language. Enter a Start Date and End Date for the course, i.e., the entire school year or the marking period. Once you have added the course title, the language of instruction, start and end dates, activate the curriculum by selecting the textbook for your course. Click OK and begin to add students to your course. Add students by clicking on the appropriate class, clicking the Add Student button, and entering their names and s. They will be ed a link to join your course. If your students do not receive the link, make sure to check their address. You can edit the student information by clicking on the pencil icon. You can also delete students who leave your course. Note that this action will delete their account, i.e., all records of the work they have completed to date, permanently from Passport.

3 Assign After you have created your courses, you can begin assigning tasks by clicking on the assign tab. There are five different icons that guide you through the assign feature. With the exception of iculutre tasks (which are generally assigned as part of modules), ebook activities, Avenue tasks, Flipgrid questions, and Modules all follow a similar assignment process that allows you to customize and individualize assignments by course or by student, making it simple to differentiate and individualize tasks. ebook Activity: allows you to assign activities from the ebook. When you click on the icon, the following choices appear: Category, Unit, Lesson By clicking on each of these drop-down categories, you can specify exactly what you want to assign. Next, you assign by class or by individual student. Click on the class and the student list drops down for you to assign individually. Once you select the classes and/or students, select the date and click save. You will receive a message reading Success! indicating the assignment has been saved and your students have been notified via . Avenue Task: allows you to create and assign Avenue tasks that are performance-based. You provide the input for the question or task, and the student responds by completing the task verbally and visually through video recording. There are preloaded, ready-made tasks, and you can search these tasks in the search bar to filter results. You can also create your own unique tasks. For detailed instructions on creating your own tasks visit: To add an Avenue task in Passport, select the category and the name of the textbook assigned to your course. You can also select the Chapter/Unit of the book as well as the year date the activity was created. Once you assign a task by clicking Assign, you assign a due date by class or by individual students, just as in ebooks. Click on the class and the student list drops down for you to individually assign and provide due dates. Once you select the classes and/or students, select the date and click Save. You will instantly receive a message reading Success! indicating the assignment has been saved and your students have been notified via . iculture Guide: although iculture tasks are not assigned, the most recent tasks appear on the student Passport page each day, and you can also you can assign them as part of a module assignment. Assigning modules is outlined below. Flipgrid Question: allows you to create questions for students to answer. Students can view and respond to their classmates videos. For more information on teaching with Flipgrid log directly into your Flipgrid account and click on the link to the help video Click on Add a Question In the space provided, type in your question and click OK to submit it. To complete the assignment process, click on Due Date to assign the question to courses or individual students. Just as in ebooks and Avenue, you assign a due date by class or by individual students. Click on the class and the student list drops down for you to individually assign and provide due dates. Once you select the classes and/or students, select the date and click Save. You will instantly receive a message reading Success! indicating the assignment has been saved and your students have been notified via .

4 Modules: Modules are ACTFL-standards-aligned, performance-based learning tasks which allow your students to explore real-world situations through dynamic and fun projects. Projects are based on current and engaging themes. In each module, your students will be assigned four different sections that correspond to IPAs (Integrated Performance Assessments). The first three sections are aligned with one of ACTFL s 3 modes of communication: 1. Interpretive generally in this section, students read or listen to something in the target language and demonstrate their understanding of it by doing a related activity. 2. Interpersonal students communicate with other people in the target language. 3. Presentational students present the results of their research to an audience. The fourth section Critical Reflection gives students an opportunity to summarize their entire module project on video in 90 seconds or less. Each section is scored separately. The scoring rubrics are available for students to see, so that students are aware of how you will assess them as they complete each task. Tasks in a module are varied and may include activities such as watching a video and making a video response; creating and carrying out a survey with classmates, then analyzing and presenting results; web research; following directions on a map; etc. Often there are web links, embedded videos, helpful search terms, and resource documents for students to fill in. These will all be made available to students in the task window. There are a variety of formats in which students can submit their work. Video responses made with Avenue and Flipgrid will be automatically submitted. Students can also submit external content (files they create). The files can be uploaded to the system by clicking the Upload Work button and dragging and dropping the files into the outlined area, or by browsing their computer using the Select a file button. If students have used a web application to complete the task (eg. Vimeo, Vine, Google Docs, etc.), they can submit the link (URL) in the indicated space. To begin assigning modules, click on Module and search for a module that aligns to your current unit, chapter, or curriculum theme. Once you find a module that you want to explore, click on the Integration Guide, which will open in a new tab in your browser. The Integration Guide contains detailed ACTFL-based Modes of Communication and Standards information on the module as well as information on the content covered. It also gives an estimated completion time, pacing guidelines (when you should assign), and information on grading, module objectives, integration tips, and expansion ideas. When you return to the Module Assignment page (by clicking back to the Passport tab to the left of the new tab that opened for the Integration Guide), to the right of the Integration Guide is the Scoring Guide. The Scoring Guide is provided to help you assess each segment of the Module by the 3 modes of communication (Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational) as well as the fourth component, Reflection. It contains detailed rubrics and total points possible for each of the four areas of assessment. Students will have access to these rubrics so that they can self-reflect on their performance and comprehend their scores. Now you are ready to assign a module to your students: click the Assign button. To complete the assignment process, click on Due Date to assign the module to courses or individual students. Just
