It is a trip of approx. 30 minutes, with trains departing every half hour or more frequently. A one- way ticket costs 14 and can be purchased at vending offices or through ticket machines at the airport. At Termini, change to the metro for the orange line A in direction of Torrevecchia or

2 Battistini. Descend after at Lepanto, the fifth stop. This trip will take around 8-10 minutes. A one- way ticket costs 1,50, and needs to be stamped before taking the metro. Tickets can be bought at Termini, and directly at the airport. The Lepanto metro station is a 6 minute 500 metres walk along Via Cicerone from the hotel (see map below). How to get from the Ciampino airport to the Cicerone Hotel The Ciampino airport is connected with the Termini station with the half- hourly Terravision shuttle bus. The trip to Termini takes 40 minutes, and will cost 4 for a one- way ticket. From Termini to the hotel, please see the above directions. Tickets can be bought at the airport, and for the return, at the Terracafé at Termini. 2

5 Aims of the study visit Main aims of the study visit are: to introduce the external participants to the school(s) and to the learning community, and to respective approaches regarding pedagogy and leadership; to highlight the current issues on which the learning community agreed to focus on during the project year; to provide an opportunity for participants to input to: o clarification about questions for investigation o innovations to be tried out to raise achievement o practical issues (organisation, selection of target groups, recording evidence - qualitative, quantitative) to establish relationships between the local team members and the project participants, and to start content discussions, to be continued afterwards on the discussion platform 5
