2 BUILD UP Skills UPSWING The action BUILD UP Skills UPSWING- being implemented under the Pillar II of the BUILD UP Skills initiative* - targets the development and pilot testing of three large scale fully functional training and qualification schemes for the Greek: i. insulation technicians, ii. aluminium and metal constructions craftsmen, iii. installers-maintainers of burners, in full accordance with the priorities and propositions of the National Qualification Roadmap (NQR), which was developed during the Pillar I of the BUILD UP Skills initiative. *The EU BUILD UP Skills Initiative BUILD UP Skills is a strategic initiative of the European Commission (under the Intelligent Energy Europe IEE - Programme) to boost continuing or further education and training of craftsmen and other on-site construction workers and systems installers in the building sector. The ultimate aim is to increase the number of qualified workers across Europe to deliver renovations offering a high energy performance, as well as new nearly zeroenergy buildings, with a view to contributing to the attainment of the European objectives. Initially (in the frame of Pillar I of the Initiative), National Qualification Roadmaps (NQRs) were developed in 30 European countries - in Greece too (by the BUS-GR project) which outline strategic measures and actions boosting the continuous vocational training and the improvement of skills of the building sector workforce in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Based on these roadmaps, Pillar II of the Initiative supports relevant actions for the development of new and/or the upgrade of existing training and qualification schemes. 4 Preface to the deliverable This deliverable reports on the wide scale dissemination activities of BUILD UP Skills UPSWING, which acted as strong communication tools to make publicly available the effort of the consortium and the vision of the project, ensuring long term viability. Since, significant groups of diversified stakeholders belong in the networking list of BUS UPSWING, a dissemination strategy was structured, since the very beginning of the project, in order to achieve efficient communication channels with all of them. The wide scale dissemination activities, foreseen as part of Task 7.5, take the form of large communication events, in which all relevant stakeholders are invited to participate and get informed of the BUS UPSWING objectives and results. These diversified events, focus on reaching different groups of interested stakeholders and giving emphasis on discussing with them on the key topics of the action. The overall aim of the wide scale dissemination events is the diffusion of information with regard to BUS UPSWING to as wide and diversified as possible groups of Greek stakeholders, which will embrace the action and support its outcomes in the future. As part of the wide scale dissemination activities, the following events were organized, the results of which are reported in this deliverable: 2 information days, aiming to communicate the action and its results to a wide range of different stakeholder groups. 3 workshops for targeted workers (insulation technicians, aluminum and metal constructors, and installers/maintainers of burners) The final conference of BUS UPSWING, comprising on the key steps for the diffusion of the project s outcomes. The two consultation meetings with policy makers are also part of the wide scale dissemination activities of BUS UPSWING, but since their purpose was the dialogue with policy makers and the recommendation of financial and regulatory/institutional incentives to workers to participate in the training and certification programs, their reporting has been performed in the Deliverable D7.9. The rest of the report is divided in three chapters devoted to the description of each different category of the dissemination events that took place, as listed above. 5 Information days The information days of BUS UPSWING were implemented in the last year of the project, in order to inform stakeholders and all interested participants of the action, and to present them the tangible results produced, with regard to the qualification and certification schemes, the accompanying measures for their operation, the training material, etc. With a view to attracting large number of stakeholders, and other people not included in the contact lists of the consortium, it was decided that the 2 information days are organized in conjunction with other relevant large scale Greek events. This decision was proved right, since a great number of participants attended the information days, attended the presentations of BUS UPSWING, and got the brochures and leaflets of the action. The first information day was organized in conjunction with the 6 th Greek Conference of Aluminium Constructors, which was held at Kozani, Greece, in November 5-6, Dissemination material was distributed to over 300 participants and two partners of the project made a couple of presentations, closely related to BUS UPSWING. Dr. Haris Doukas from NTUA presented the BUS UPSWING action and discussed on the European Energy Union, while Mr. Lefteris Giakoumelos from CRES discussed on the qualification and certification of the aluminium and metal constructor with regard to Energy Efficiency and how this can roll out to wider national levels and include also all the other professions of the construction sector. Instances from the 1 st information day of BUS UPSWING are illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, photos from the presentations of the BUS UPSWING partners are shown in Figures 3 & 4, while the title slides of the presentations of the UPSWING partners are depicted in Figures 5 & 6. The second information day of BUS UPSWING took part in the two-day energy event "Latest Developments in the Energy Saving Sector" of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG), open to all interested parties. The information day was conducted on Monday and Tuesday July 2017 at the Event Hall of TCG and was attended by representatives from organizations of the energy market, the construction industry, public authorities, academia, ordinal people, etc. Speakers Haris Doukas from NTUA and Charalambos Malamatenios from CRES presented BUS UPSWING and discussed on the training and certification of professional qualifications of construction workers in the field of Energy Efficiency in Greece. Dissemination material of BUS UPSWING was distributed to over 150 participants. The brochure of the information day is depicted in Figure 7, the agenda of event is presented in Figure 8, while Figure 9 illustrates an instance from the event. 10 Figure 9: Instance from the 2 nd information day of UPSWING Workshops for targeted workers As part of the BUS UPSWING dissemination strategy, IME GSEVEE organized 3 workshops with the targeted technicians in Athens (July 5, 2017), Thessaloniki and Heraklion (July 7, 2017). The agenda of the workshops included discussion on the three developed qualification schemes and the examinations for certification. Feedback was received by the technicians, with a view to improving the functionality of the schemes and the efficiency of the training, the training material and the practical training guides. All 3 workshops were divided into three parallel sessions, devoted to each of the targeted professions of BUS UPSWING. The participants lists of the 3 workshops, with their parallel sessions, are presented in Annex I, at the end of the Deliverable. BUS UPSWING Final Conference The Final conference "Training and qualifications certification of the blue-collar workers of the construction sector in the matters of Energy Efficiency - The BUILD UP Skills UPSWING national action" took place at the International Exhibition BUILDING GREEN The event took place in April 8, 2017 from 10:30 to 13:00 in Hall 4 of the Exhibition Center Metropolitan Expo. For the successful organization and implementation of the conference, the following tasks were accomplished by the project coordinator: i) the announcement and dissemination of the conference s program, ii) the identification of invited speakers and experts, and iii) the preparation D7.9 Report on the wide scale dissemination activities Page 8

11 and distribution of the Conference Proceedings. In addition, the presence of involved actors boosted the project s contribution to the continuous professional development and underlined the importance of the market transformation towards Near Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). The final conference was the ultimate physical dissemination event of the BUS UPSWING project and summarized the whole project and its key results, discussing them with top-level keynote speakers and other experts. A great number of stakeholders and simple visitors to the Exhibition attended the meeting and either got informed of the BUS UPSWING action, or interacted with the consortium and expressed their inquiries and viewpoints on the qualifications of professionals in the Greek building and energy market. A key stakeholders panel was also organized at the end of the Conference that provided an overall assessment as regards to the contributed ideas on the appropriate directions for the Greek vocational education policies and discussed implications at local, national and regional level and finally provided recommendations for further action and future perspectives. The agenda of the meeting is available in Greek in the Annex of the present report. The event was further disseminated through the 4 th press release of BUS UPSWING: Figures 10 present two instances from the final conference of BUS UPSWING with Dr. Malamatenios from CRES presenting the action, while Figures 11 and 12 depict Dr. Doukas from NTUA and Dr. Tsoutsos from TUC respectively performing their presentations. Figure 13 is a memento of the BUS UPSWING consortium after the end of the final conference, while Figure 14 shows the agenda of the event.
