1 TerraNova Results, Page Terra Nova CAT Achievemet Assessmet for Grades 3, 5 & 6 Itroductio I , the New Mexico Achievemet Assessmet was chaged to a orm-refereced, multiplechoice test called the Terra Nova CAT Complete Battery, Form C (Terra Nova CAT). Normed atioally i 2000, the Terra Nova CAT was chose from amog the available assessmets because it was deemed to most closely match the New Mexico cotet ad performace stadards for studets at grades 3-9. The subtests of the Terra Nova CAT are Readig, Laguage Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies ad Sciece. Uder stadardized test admiistratio, all studets are give the same directios, time limits, ad scorig criteria, with the goal of esurig fairess for all studets. Thus, the scores idicate where idividuals ad groups of studets stad i relatio to others locally as well as their peers across the atio. Purpose of This Report This report attempts to aswer the followig questios: 1. What is the overall academic performace of the studets i the Roswell Idepedet School Districts (RISD)? 2. How does academic performace i vary amog, ethicities, ecoomic levels, Eglish proficiecy levels ad special educatio program status? 3. How well are RISD studets performig o each objective measured by the test? Iterpretatio of Media Natioal Percetile Rak () Sice the Public Educatio Departmet (PED) reports results utilizig s, this report cotais s as well. To fid a group s media percetile rak, all idividual percetiles are ordered from largest to smallest. The middle score (half fall above it ad half fall below it) is the group s. If a group scored exactly like the atioal orm group, the would be 50, the atioal average. If a school s is 60, for example, we ca ifer that the middle studet i that school scored higher tha 60% of the studets i the atioal orm group Third Grade New Mexico Achievemet Assessmet (TerraNova CAT) Summary Results 1.
