2 Entering the Classroom Come to class quickly and quietly. Bring all needed materials to class (listed under supplies). Hand in homework to the appropriate file. Fill out agenda with today s assignments. Work on Bell Work (usually vocabulary). Prayer leader will lead prayer. Supplies The materials needed in class daily are: Trapper/agenda Library book Math book Math binder (set up) Math workbook Social Studies book Social Studies binder (set up) Pencils and eraser Highlighter Calculator (Model: TI-30XS) Notebook paper Graph paper Colored pencils Math Binder Sections Workbook/Homework Vocabulary Notes (spiral) Graded Work Social Studies Binder Sections Homework Vocabulary Notes (spiral) Graded Work * Extra sections for notebook paper, and graph paper may be added at the back. **A pencil bag with needed class supplies may be added at the front. Grades Grades may be taken on participation, individual assignments, group assignments, quizzes, tests, activities, projects, and binder organization. Grades are based on total points. I do not give grades. Grades are earned. Extra credit opportunities are limited; do not ask. If a student has a D/F in math on Friday, one daily assignment from the current chapter may be corrected on a separate sheet of paper, stapled to the back of the original assignment, and turned in for half credit on Monday. The Diocesan Grading Scale will be used. See Parent/Student Handbook pages The formula for figuring a percentage: Points Earned Points Possible Assignments Assignments can be expected daily. Homework will be given within the guidelines stated in the Parent/Student Handbook on page 11. Assignments are due the next day of class unless otherwise stated. Please complete all assignments in pencil. All assignments must have a proper heading in the upper righthand corner or appropriate space provided.

3 Late Work An assignment is considered late if it is not handed in by the beginning of class the day it is due. Work will be lowered at least one letter grade (equivalent in points) if it is late. All missing assignments will be a 0 in the gradebook until they are handed in. Attendance If a student is tardy, absent, or out of the classroom during class time, they are responsible to make up any missed Bell Work, notes, assignments, and other information. Homework buddies will do their best to help keep track of assignments. Students must meet with me during the first lunch recess they are back when they have missed class time. If there is a conflict during the recess time, other arrangements need to be made beforehand. Please see the Parent/Student Handbook on pages for attendance policies. Holt McDougal has a website for students and parents to access the textbook and other resources. Some of the resources may be used in class or for online assignments. This is a great tool to look at if extra explanation is needed for a difficult concept or a concept was missed due to absence from class. Many of the resources in this website are also available in Spanish. Each student will have a unique username and password. Holt McDougal website: my.hrw.com Username: Password: Math Facts in a Flash All students will be expected to meet the quarterly goals for Math Facts in a Flash. This is worth 100 points each quarter. The quarterly goals will be posted in the classroom. Some time will be given in class, but students will have to use their own time too. Renaissance Learning website: Username: Password: Moby Max Students will use Moby Max. This is an online curriculum that will individualize and enhance student learning in many subject areas.
