1 17/09/2017 Dear Parent/Carer, A warm welcome back to a new academic year and an extremely important one for your child. I write to you to share key information and dates which are of pivotal importance as your child progresses towards the end of their studies with us at New Line Learning Academy. As an Academy we have made vast improvements to ensure your child is fully supported both academically and pastorally within the build-up for their GCSE summer examination series of As an academy we have made excellent progress within our student outcomes over the past 12 months and we look forward to enjoying and sharing many successful moments of your child s progress within the next 10 months. This academic year we have introduced a 360 this replacing the planner. Your child s 360 will be used as a communication log between home and school so please ensure this is being checked on a daily basis. Your child will also use this to monitor their attendance, achievement and other successes throughout the year. For your child to continue to succeed within the Academy it is pivotally important that their attendance is extremely high, every student should be aiming for 100% to ensure they are maximising their learning potential. Please ensure you re supporting both your child and the school in ensuring that they are present each day within the Academy. There are a series of key dates below to ensure you are fully aware of events, formal assessments and information evenings to ensure you can support your child support during this academic year. Year 11 intervention offer. Commences from Tuesday 12 th September 2017, please see attached for further details. It is pivotal to your child s success that they are utilising these sessions and attending areas of development. This will continue within the academic year and students will be updated of any changes. Wednesday 11 th October 2017, 6pm 7pm. Understanding assessment and reporting at New Line Learning. This providing parents/carers key information of the changes to the assessment framework, how their child will be assessed and relevant changes by the Department of Education. Please see attached invite and confirm your attendance. w/b 20 th November 2017 Year 11 mock examinations. w/b 27 th November 2017 Year 11 mock examinations. Formal mock examinations to prepare your child for the summer series, this enables teaching staff to accurately assess, feedback and predict outcomes for your child and enabled for any further intervention to be introduced. Wednesday 13 th December 2017 Year mock results day. A formal mock results day, students will receive an envelope with their results in as they will on Thursday 23 rd August 2018.
2 Thursday 14 th December 2017 Year 11 written reports including current and predicted grades and Year 11 parents evening. In reaction to your child sitting mock examinations you have the opportunity to meet the subject teacher. Attendance is crucial to establish both positives and areas of development within your child s performance across the school. You will also be able to collect your child s written report to discuss further on the evening. Wednesday 10 th January 2018, 6pm 7pm. Year 11 GCSE examination preparation evening. Parents/carers are invited to find out further information on how to prepare your child fully for the up and coming examinations. With all subject leaders presenting key techniques to raise achievement in their subject as well as the opportunity to discuss further and raise any queries, your attendance along with your child s is essential. We will also present further strategies of intervention and both physical and psychological preparation to aid your child. Monday 5 th March 2018 Year 11 mock examinations. Monday 12 th March 2018 Year 11 mock examinations. A further opportunity to ensure your child is fully prepared for the summer examination series. This also enables the teacher to assess, feedback and provide any further intervention at this stage that will raise achievement for your child. Tuesday 27 th March 2018 Year 11 current and predicted grades and Year 11 parents evening. This another opportunity to raise question, queries to the subject teachers. To discuss further achievement and other intervention which could aid your child within the coming months. Your attendance along with your child being crucial within this evening. Monday 7 th May 2018 GCSE examinations to commence for 5 school weeks. Further information of revision timetable and examination schedules to be published closer to the time. Thursday 23 rd August 2018 Year 11 GCSE results day. Information to be provided closer to the time.
