Partnerships Workforce Funding The District will build community support by promoting, encouraging and maintaining meaningful partnerships and mutually beneficial collaboration. The District will use best practices to hire, develop and retain a skilled, empowered and engaged workforce to ensure that the district achieves its mission and vision. The District will maintain a balanced budget by using available funds in the most efficient and effective manner and, if necessary, will seek needed funding to advance its mission and vision.

We achieve the mission/vision best by supporting each other (Board, Administration, Staff, Parents, and Community), and by empowering everyone to do their best and reach their full potential. In doing so, we enable our students to also reach their full potential. To Achieve the Board of Education s full potential each member will commit to: Respect Respecting differences of opinions - Work to compromise, work together as a unit - Be open minded - Respect confidentiality and be trustworthy and professional Respect individual contributions and experiences brought to the BOE Listening and Active Participation Listen to all ideas and perspectives before making a decision Encouragement of dialog and input from all Board members Engagement with all stakeholders (community, administration, staff, parents, students) to encourage mutual collaboration and education Commitment to the District Listen to all Stakeholders (individuals, advocacy or interest groups) but commit to making decision on the best interest of the District Strive for consensus in a timely manner and respect the final decision of the BOE Be prepared and educate yourself - Ask questions to other Board members, administrator, attend conferences (if possible) Process or procedural items Encouraging all stakeholders to follow appropriate chain of command How committee assignments are made How items are placed on the agenda The role and relationship of the Board and Administration

The Vision for the Viroqua Area School District is To foster students love for learning, where educators inspire and where family and community are engaged. 15 Board Governance Policy Definition of Policy Governance The Board has full legislative control of District, however, the Board shall exercise its authority through a Policy Governance Model. Board Policy shall be established by defining the broadest values before progressing to more narrow ones. The Board delegates to the Superintendent the responsibility to operate the District within the boundaries of the District mission and Board policy.
