A major way we accomplish our mission is through training and professional development programs. The Seminar is the CAC annual conference which is the capstone of our professional development programs; designed to meet the learning needs of conference attendees at all levels to include emerging, evolving, and experienced leaders in public service. NFBPA CAC promises our attendees that we will provide them with an exceptional learning experience and essential tools that will make them and their organization more successful. That means we need dynamic sessions that: Has relevant content for a diverse audience that stretches thinking and provides new approaches; Presents content which is delivered in an engaging manner; Provides examples and case studies of real successes and lessons learned from failures; Includes application exercises that engages the attendees; Offers practical tools that can be applied immediately in the attendee s organizations. Section I Invitation to Present NFBPA CAC is pleased to invite you to be part of a distinguish group of workshop leaders, educators, and practitioners who will provide practical ideas, new technologies, and relevant information to help meet the challenges and rewards of public service careers. -This Call for Presenters is your invitation to volunteer to be a Presenter(s)/Panelist(s) or Moderator of the 2018 Professional Development Seminar workshop. -We welcome talented presenters/panelists and moderators that are practitioners, academicians, and researchers that have demonstrated expertise in the subject matter of the selected workshops and effective communication skills.

CLOSING REMARKS Workshops will accommodate 30 to 45 attendees depending on the room assignments. NFBPA CAC will assign the rooms. Section II Presenter/Panelist and Moderator Roles and Responsibilities Roles It is envisioned that each workshop will have one (1) Moderator and no more than three (3) Presenters/Panelists. Moderator: The Moderator will play a crucial role in the preparation and management of the workshop. The moderator will: 1. Set the context, drive the panel discussion, and engage the panelists and audience in an interactive dialogue. 2. Introduce each presenter/panelists and the general outline of the program as well as ask questions of the panelists and take questions from the audience. 3. Synthesize what he or she hears throughout the program so that the discussion is focused and key points are highlighted.
3 Prior to the conference, the Moderator is responsible for contacting the presenters/panelists, and holding conference calls to coordinate the flow of the workshop. The Moderator will convene the workshop, introduce the presenter/panelists and provide wrap-up at the closing of the workshop. The Moderator is also responsible for remaining within the time-frame of the workshop. Presenter/Panelist: The primary role of a presenter/panelist is to prepare, share and present. Preparation may or may not include the development of a written paper; however, presenters/panelists, if applicable, may want to provide professional articles. In preparing for the workshop, NFBPA CAC encourages that each presenter/panelist prepare an outline of his/her remarks and uses interesting delivery techniques, including but not limited to power points and other audio visual aids. Presenter/Panelist Participation Policy: In order to encourage broad participation, participants may not present in more than one session. Presenter/Panel Composition: NFBPA CAC prefers that the presenter/panelists for a workshop be from various organizations/jurisdictions, unless a model of a new innovative model program or case study is proposed as the entire content of the workshop. Presentation of diverse perspectives, opinions, and observations are valuable to the conference attendees. Speaker Fees/Travel NFBPA CAC is unable to fund presenter/panelists travel, lodging, honorariums or other fees. Persons selected to present or moderate will serve on a voluntary basis. Presenters/panelists will be given a FREE admission to attend the seminar. Any and all related travel expenses and hotel accommodations will be at the presenter's/panelists expense. Participation in the conference program is limited to one workshop session per person, regardless of role (moderator, presenter, or discussant). Speakers/Presenters/Panelists must be available to present Friday, March 16, Audio/Visual Audio visual equipment is provided upon request. Each workshop room will be equipped with an LCD projector, computer, screen, podium and microphone. Presenters/Panelists who will use audio visual equipment are required to submit an electronic version of his/her presentation based upon the instructions they will receive upon proposal acceptance. All presentations must include the name of the workshop with the presenter's/panelist s name(s) on the first slide. If your presentation is not received by the deadline established for submission, you will be unable to use the presentation equipment. Personal laptops cannot be used for presentations. Please note that requests to load presentations on-site are subject to staff availability and will incur an on-site fee. Workshop sessions may be recorded and PowerPoint presentations collected for handout purposes.
4 At the conclusion of the conference, registrants will be provided online access to each workshop for a time limited period and have the opportunity to hear the presentation and view the PowerPoint slides and/or a photo of the presenter/panelist. Those with access to the online workshops may download the PowerPoint presentations provided as hand-outs. However, you may choose not to have your material available for download if it has proprietary restrictions. Upon acceptance of your proposal, you will receive more information on this subject and be asked to complete a participation form granting NFBPA CAC permission to record your presentation and provide PowerPoint handouts. We no longer print handouts onsite. Membership Membership in NFBPA CAC is not required to be a presenter/panelist or moderator. However, membership is highly encouraged and other considerations being equal, preference will be given to applications from members. Information about joining NFBPA CAC may be found at Non-Commercial Policy Attendees are seeking valuable educational sessions and are always critical of presenters/panelists or sessions that are self-promotional. It is an NFBPA CAC conference policy that presenters/ panelists not use a conference session for commercial sales pitches, self-promotion or unwarranted criticism of a product and/or service provider. Speakers are not permitted to distribute a specific company s promotional literature, brochures or sales materials in any form within the session. SECTION III REQUEST TO PRESENT FORM 1.
