So, students today we will discuss about Mahatma Gandhi whose fame will remain eternal (Pupil-teacher will show the chart of Mahatma Gandhi) Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest leaders of India. He was the servant of mankind. That s why countrymen call him Bapuji because he was the father of the nation. His full name was Mohan Dass Karam Chand Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was born 2 nd October, 1869 at Porbander(Gujarat).his father was a Diwan of Rajkot. He received his education from India and England. He became a barrister in He started his practice at Bombay. An Indian firm called him to South Africa for legal advice. There he faught for the rights of Indians. In 1914, he came back to India to against the British rule. He waged various struggles like the non-cooperation Quit India movement as a result of which India became free on 15 th august Gandhi ji believed in truth and nonviolence. He was against the caste system. He worked for the upliftment of Harijans. (upliftment-betterment, Harijans-Low-caste people). On January 30 th,1948 he was shot dead by Nathu Ram Godse. OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON: To acquaint the students with the 1 st half of the lesson along with exposition of new words. E.B.O.
