4 A Great Response from the Field! 43,761educators (87%) across the state completed the survey, topping our 2011 rate of 80%! Approximately 9 out of 10 schools met, or exceeded, the minimum 50% response rate threshold!

5 About the 2013 Kentucky Respondents ,761 KY Educators (86.7 percent) 88.3 Percent Teachers 2.5 Percent Principals 2.0 Percent Assistant Principals 7.1 Percent other education professionals (school counselors, school psychologists, social workers, etc.) ,025 KY Educators (80.3 percent) 88.9 Percent Teachers 2.5 Percent Principals 1.8 Percent Assistant Principals 6.8 Percent other education professionals (school counselors, school psychologists, social workers, etc.)

7 Suggestions for Data Use Teaching conditions matter for students and for educators. Understanding that not everyone sees them the same way is important in developing strategies and policies for school improvement. By making this data part of the school improvement planning process, findings from each teaching condition construct can be seamlessly integrated in the current and emerging school improvement programs at every school.

9 Don t over- or underrepresent the data in local policy decision-making Local policymakers should neither ignore the power of teaching conditions data, nor make policy without the context of other data points about the school and/or district Do use this data to help drive local-level policy decisions Reviewing data results with local teacher associations, school leadership, local school boards, legislators, and other decision-makers can ensure that policies and resources are more responsive to the most pressing needs of students, educators, schools, and districts

Be sure to look at your data using the continuum in the Kentucky Standards for Teaching Conditions. 4. Begin plans on how to incorporate findings in to your school improvement plan for next year!

24 The use of the TELL data is a required component in the statewide ASSIST system. School districts are required to input their Consolidated District Improvement plan into this system.

26 June 5 Kentucky Board of Education Meeting: Release of Preliminary Findings. Plans for 2013 Winner s Circle Awards to be announced in September. In the coming months, NTC will release additional findings and reports which will be posted on the website. Reports will include connections to student achievement, teacher retention, findings by grade level, and new teacher support.
