5 WELCOME TO ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I. HAVE A GREAT SEMESTER. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS: Lecture Examinations may consist of among other things multiple-multiple choice, multiple choice, true false, matching, picture identification and short answer questions. The questions will be taken primarily from the book/lecture. Lab Examinations may be administered in written/lab station set ups. You may be required to answer questions moving from one station to another. It is the student responsibility to correlate the question and station with his/her station answer on exam paper. The Final Examination may or may not be comprehensive. The Final Examinations may be given over the Final chapters for the lecture and Exercises for the Lab. Remember there may be over lap in examinations. Instructor will give instructions. There may be extra credit in each examination, however a maximum score of 100 points only will be allowed for each exam, at instructors discretion. The lecture and Lab exams will be scheduled for the beginning of the class and will only last for 2 hours. This will give you a maximum of 2 hours for examinations. If the lecture or Laboratory Examination has begun and you are late, (for whatever reason), you will be allowed to take the Examination as long as no other student has completed the exam and left the room. You will only be allowed the remaining time to take your examination. If there is a timed station set up for the lab exam, students will only be allowed to take the exam starting with assigned number. I.e. A student arrives late and we have already completed 3 stations. The student will only be able to complete the subsequent number of stations. However, if students are allowed allotted time to review stations, the student may visit the stations missed within that allotted time. No additional time will be given. You are allowed to drop one, the lowest, of the five lecture examinations. - If (for whatever reason) you miss one lecture exam, that exam will be your automatic drop exam. - If you miss a second exam (for whatever reason) it will be counted as a zero and averaged with previous grades or you will be withdrawn from the course. - If you are satisfied with your grade average prior to the Final Examination. You are eligible to skip the Final Exam only if you have not missed a prior Lecture Examination. - No makeup Examination will be given. - The Three laboratory Examinations are Mandatory. No makeup exams will be given. In the Laboratory group work is encouraged, however the lab report is the responsibility of each student. You are responsible for your lab report. You must answer the questions in the lab report soon after the exercise is completed. Although you are allowed to discuss the answers with others, no copied answers will be accepted. Quizzes will be administered in each class period (except on exam days) promptly and will have a set amount of time. If the official time has started and you arrive late or out of the room for any reason, you will only be allow the remaining time allotted. If the allotted time has passed you will miss the assigned quiz for that day (NO EXCEPTIONS).
6 Quizzes maybe web enhanced. The students may be required to take the examination online, bring results to class to be presented to instructor as requested. No late quizzes will be accepted. Quizzes will be at instructor s discretion STUDENT ASSIGNMENTS: See Above MIDTERM EXAM: See Above FINAL EXAM: See Above INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: See Above Textbook and Laboratory Manual are required. HCC POLICY STATEMENT:- ADA Disability statement: Any student with a documented disability (e.g. physical learning, psychiatric, vision, hearing, etc.) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the Disability Services Office at Central College. Room LHSB 106. ( ). You must answer the questions in the lab report soon after the exercise is completed. Although you are allowed to discuss the answers with others, no copied answers will be accepted. HCC POLICY STATEMENTS As stated in the HCC Catalog, all students are expected to attend classes regularly. Students in DE courses must log in to their Blackboard classes or they will be counted as absent. Just like and on-campus class, your regular participation is required. DE Students who do not log into their Blackboard class before the Official Day of Record will be AUTOMATICALLY dropped for non-attendance. Completing the DE online orientation does not count as attendance. Class Attendance is required. Attendance may be given only if you attend full class period. The students are expected to take both exams. The exams will count as 50% of the students highest lab examination. In order to receive credit the student must take and receive a score on both exams. If a student only or does not takes the first exam they will receive 0%. If a student only or does not take the second exam the student will receive 0%. If student on the exit exam receive a grade of = 50% credit, 80-89=40% credit, 70-79=30% credit, 60-69=20% credit, 50-59=10% credit, 0-49%=0% credit. Ie. The students highest lab exam score will be combined with the exit exam for the score to be computed for the students final grade for that exam. If a student highest lab exam is a 100 and the student departmental grade is a 49 then they will 0% credit for the departmental exam and the highest lab exam grade will drop to a % (100) + 0% ( 49) = 50%. If the department exam is a 90 then the exam grade would be computed as 50% (100) + 50% (90)= 95% for that lab exam. This at instructor s discretion.
