2 Year 12 Information Evening Aims of the sixth form A-level and BTEC reforms Transition Independent study Punctuality and Attendance Monitoring and reporting progress Subject Ambassadors Enrichment Supporting students at home Key dates

3 Aims of the sixth form 1. To fully prepare students for the next stage by: Individual Study Programmes High quality teaching and learning Accurate assessment and meaningful feedback Development of skills for success Finding the right route through higher education / in to employment Supporting students with next steps application processes 2. To ensure students enjoy the sixth form experience

4 A Level Reforms Assessment will be mainly by exam A Levels will be assessed at the end of the course. AS and A levels will be decoupled this means that AS results will no longer count towards an A Level, in the way they do now. AS levels will be devalued, will have less challenge and will be equivalent to less than half an A Level. Student will not take AS examinations all exams will take place at the end of the two years

5 BTEC Reforms Students will be assessed by assignments, set tasks and examinations Students have to meet deadlines and hand all work in to at least a pass level Students who don t hand work in on time or to the required level will fail the course Students will be given feedback and given one opportunity ONLY to make improvements Students must pass all aspects of the course to pass the qualification overall

10 Punctuality and Attendance The more time students spend in school the better their grades We aim for attendance of 100% On average 17 days off school results in a drop of one grade Please try to schedule appointments out of school time Appointment slips needed Lack of punctuality affects the learning of others too If we have concerns we will be in touch
