11 How hard did you work to achieve your grades? Got 6A*s and 3 As spanish, geo, eng lang and revised 2/3 hours each day jan - exams. I got 7A*s and 3As and I put loads of work into it. I revised every night, for 3 and a half hours. Make sure you do 3/4 hours a day - I got 3 A*s 6 A's and a B i revised for about 3 hours each day from march to the end of my exams in June. I got 2 A*'s 5 A's and 2 b's

14 Things to avoid revising topics that you already know - students often revise what they know because it is easier and less effort aimlessly re-reading notes using highlighter pens all over your notes: research says that highlighting work does not help you to remember it cramming for exams it might be better than nothing, but not by much, and it can do more harm than good

15 Getting ready mobile phone/tablets out of sight and out of mind no music no distractions turn off the internet - concentrate fully on your revision use a quiet room, work at a desk, and have all you need to hand revise efficiently and then use the rest of the time to enjoy your holidays You will get a lot of satisfaction from feeling you are making progress!

22 Spacing and interleaving When you plan out your revision you need to space out your learning so that you spend small amounts of time on different subjects. Little and often is a better technique than cramming.

27 Things to do - summary plan your revision begin your revision timetable by writing in your leisure time share your plan revise every day and plan for at least four hours a day during Easter split it up and space it out revise your weakest subjects and topics as a priority: what do your PPE results tell you? begin by writing down all the things you already know about a topic don t revise what you already know use effective revision strategies don t just re-read your notes put your phone and your games console out of reach, and turn off the internet quiz and test yourself this is one of the most effective ways to revise

28 Things to do - summary make flashcards that you can use to test yourself on the bus space out your revision over time revise subjects in small chunks over many days, and not all in one go mix up different subjects or different parts of one subject when you revise half an hour on each subject when you are learning new material, add as much extra information as you can think hard about it and make as many connections as you can to things you already know convert information from one form to another: words to diagrams; diagrams to words; text to mindmaps display your posters! think of as many examples as you can when you are learning new ideas complete as many practice past papers as you can and get feedback on them
