Our values arise out of our vision We put learners at the heart of everything we do. We provide a safe and inspiring environment in which to work and study. We believe diversity is an asset to learning. We value and celebrate the pleasure of learning and support students and staff in meeting their potential. We treat students and staff as individuals, listening, respecting and responding to their needs. We value our students beyond their time at our College and will, wherever possible, continue to support them for as long as they need us. We value the importance of meeting the needs of employers, partners and our local community through responsive, innovative and high quality services. These values underpin and inform all our strategies, plans, behaviours and actions. 2

We are so much more than a college. Speak to any of our students and they will tell you that college life doesn t just mean achieving a new qualification. There is so much more on offer at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College. Study with us and you can be sure that you will gain a whole range of skills and experiences that will prepare you for the next step, whether that is progressing within education or employment. Our mainstream offer is significant and provides opportunities for individuals to access vocational and academic subjects with the knowledge that our Additional Learning Support and Disability Support services are accessible to all that require them. There is published guidance relating to entry criteria for all courses offered at EHWLC. What does the college curriculum look like? The college offers a range of courses which includes: Inclusive Learning - discrete programmes for individuals with SEND aged Level 1/Level 2 Vocational Studies in a range of Industry Sectors Level 2 BTEC courses GCSE Improvement packages Level 3 AS and A2 courses Level 3 BTEC courses Please see our website for further details Inclusive Learning The Inclusive Learning Department at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College (EHWLC) has developed a curriculum that recognises and responds to the diverse needs of the communities that we serve. We work closely with a number of national and local stakeholders to ensure that our provision is current and appropriate to ensure that every individual achieves their full potential. The staff team at EHWLC have considerable experience and an enthusiasm to support positive outcomes for all students. Within Inclusive Learning we participate in regular staff development and training to ensure that our strategies are informed by best practice in the sector. We collaborate with leading organisations that support specific learning difficulties and disabilities; these include Ambitious about Autism, Scope, Remploy, Action on Disability and Mencap. We believe that every individual should be supported to achieve realistic aspirations and that their learning will be robustly planned, monitored and recorded to evidence learner centred outcomes. Our learning environments provide access to real life experiences 3

that develop confidence, communication and independence; which will support individuals to positively progress as adults that are independent and in most cases can access the world of work. The Learning Environment In the Inclusive Learning provision will be located at two colleges; Southall and Hammersmith. We made a decision to review our provision to ensure that our resources are fit for purpose and are deployed in safe and inclusive settings. This has seen us relocating our provision from Acton to the more accessible and inclusive colleges at both Southall and Hammersmith. Hammersmith Campus Southall Campus Safety is our key priority and both campuses have excellent arrangements for supported transport to drop off and collect students at the start and finish of the learning day. The learning environments are equipped with dedicated specialist resources to enhance the learning experience for students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, (SLD, MLD, and PMLD, including complex and high functioning Autism). 4

Dedicated resources include: Personal Care Rooms Dedicated Elevators Sensory Rooms Quiet Rooms Training Kitchens Specialist learning zones for learners with complex difficulties Multimedia rooms Specialist furniture Assistive technologies College shops (managed by the students) Performing Arts Studio Horticulture Projects Arts & Crafts Enterprise Adapted minibuses All of our students have direct access to inclusive facilities such as; learning centres (libraries), Gyms, student common rooms, student canteens, recreational areas and vocational workshops. The Training Flat will be used by all students to develop a range of skills, knowledge and attitudes. It will support team work skills and the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to set standards. Art & Craft Studio This dedicated area will provide an opportunity for students to develop arrange of creative skills. The students will create products including; sketches, greetings cards, paintings, basic jewellery, clay models and seasonal gifts which will be displayed in our 6

college shops for selling to the public. All funds raised will be used to develop further enterprise projects for the students to take ownership of. Performing Arts Studio - This area will be used by the students to express their emotional feelings and develop practical performance skills. The ultimate aims being to stage a Christmas Pantomime and an end of year performance. The shows will be attended by the general public, including parents, carers, local schools and stakeholders. Multimedia Rooms - These areas are created to ensure that the latest technology can be explored to enable development of skills and knowledge at a level that will open pathways into mainstream college vocational programmes. Our students will use interactive media, online learning platforms and experience multimedia in the community. Every opportunity will be taken to gain experience outside of the college as the students create enterprise projects that will see them producing commercially attractive images that will be framed, exhibited and sold in our college shops. College Shops Each campus has a dedicated student shop; it sells food, drink and a range of other items that are requested by the cross-college population. Our students develop skills in retail, customer service, money management, problem solving, marketing, communication, enterprise and team working. The student teams are supported to visit local markets, cash & carry, supermarkets and online retailers to purchase stock for their shops. They then introduce the stock, price it and maintain a strict routine to ensure all stock is in date and doesn t run out. Training Kitchens Our training kitchens are well equipped with modern resources and equipment that would be found in domestic and commercial kitchens. Our students work closely with the staff to develop skills and knowledge that encourages independence and provides a strong foundation for supported living environments. 7

Horticulture Our students have access to a number of dedicated Horticulture environments where they work closely with specialist staff to sew, grow and harvest vegetables and herbs to use in our training kitchens. We have access to local community allotments where the more able can get stuck into digging and cultivating the ground in preparation for more substantial crops. Our students also work in partnership with Groundworks London who manage a range of community projects that provide our student with a wider range of land-based skills including; ground clearance, park maintenance, tree pruning and conservation. At college the students have dedicated areas where they develop a range of skills needed to plan, sow, grow and harvest vegetables, herbs and flowers. Employment Preparation All students on Vocational Pathways develop essential skills for employment. The curriculum is designed to give them access to college based and external work settings where they can be supported to develop transferable skills. Our Enterprise initiatives provide excellent opportunities for our students to develop confidence, communication and real work qualities. Supported Internships Our college is proud to offer a range of Supported Internships for our students. These programmes are full-time, 5 days per week and are based at an employer s location. Our students work with employers to develop transferable skills, knowledge and attitudes in readiness for full-time paid employment. Our current employers include; Hilton, Sofitel and L Oreal. Plans are in place to grow our Supported Internship offer and we hope to offer employment preparation in areas such as; Customer Service, IT, Hospitality, Catering, Retail, Business Administration, Marketing and Service Industries. 8
