Topic: The participants will get an introduction into the topic of intercultural learning and get sensibilised for the cultural differences within the group concerning each cultural background. Topic The effects of global change can be seen in the world around us today. But how can we detect these rapidly growing impacts on the environment? And how can we show the changes in time series to detect possible further negative consequences? Satellite images help us to explore the change and even provide us with information that is normally hidden to the human eye. With the help of remote sensing and satellite image technology it is possible to explore earth from a new perspective and to make traces of the global change visible. Using different time series of satellite images allows the monitoring of affected areas. Topic: The aim of this workshop is to sensitize but also to empower the participants through several applied exercises for a capable handling with different intercultural conflict styles. Topic You will get to know better two different things at this workshop: On the one hand the photo camera and on the other hand the culture of Germany. What is actually typical for Germany and the German people? In order to understand cultural backgrounds we will make a photographic discovery tour. In the course of this we will be able to discover the everyday things or the very special ones. We can focus on which hats German people wear or how they decorate their cars there are many different possibilities. Participants will be familiarized to use a photo camera and the possibilities of taking pictures. Furthermore, you will get to know basic rules of photography. Topic Since 1995 Astronomers have discovered more than 800 Planets orbiting other stars as the Sun. The search after a second Earth and for life elsewhere has already started. But what makes the Earth so special? Why is it that although all the planets of the Solar system formed out of the same gas- und dust cloud is the Earth today so different from Venus and Mars? All these questions and more will be answered on the frame of our workshop and during a 3-D journey across the Solar system in a modern planetary. The antlers in the living room or the German culture of debate? The workshop takes a winking (self)-critical look at us Germans and takes up our neighbors' perspectives on us. From a Japanese perspective our communication style is painfully direct. How would a Dutchman perceive it? How do they "build" their reports, technically and in terms of content? What are the differences between radio, newspaper and tv reporters? If time allows we think about letting the students "work", i.e. taking a microphone, doing a small opinion poll and cutting it, so it could be broadcasted.
