1 Introduction to the Parent Assistant Module (PAM) Parent Assistant Module is a module from the North Carolina Window on Student Education (NC WISE)
2 PAM Quick Facts A user-friendly web application to help parents frequently track their children s progress in school Allows for easy communication between parents and teachers. Allows parents to easily request updates to their child s personal information and family contacts.
3 Why Use PAM? Offers real-time Student Progress Reporting (7 days a week, 24 hours a day) Increased Parent Involvement Increased Home-School Communication Language choices (English, French, Spanish)
4 Custodial Parents: How to get access Complete a Parent Assistant Account Request Present proper photo identification along with the request at your youngest child s school. NC Driver License DMV Picture ID Credit Union Picture ID Passport Military ID Meet with appropriate personnel (data manager) at your youngest child s school to obtain your username and password.
5 Non-Custodial Parents: How do you get access? Complete a Parent Assistant Account Request at your child s school Present proper photo identification along with application at your youngest child s school. NC Driver License DMV Picture ID Credit Union Picture ID Passport Military ID You will be contacted within 10 school days about your request If application is accepted, you will receive your access information in the mail. Meet with appropriate personnel (data manager) at your child s school to obtain your username and password. You will have a separate username and password for each child.
6 Logging into PAM Go to:
7 Logging into PAM Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. (IMPORTANT: Usernames and Passwords are case sensitive.) Use the language button to select the language in which you would like your PAM to display. Click the LOGIN button at the bottom.
8 Accessing Your Students The first screen that appears after logging into the PAM is the CURRENT PROGRESS screen. The Current Progress screen is considered the default page for the Parent Assistant program. If you get a Pop-up Blocker message, please allow Pop-ups from this site.
9 Academic Progress: Current Progress Total Cumulative Grade: is the grade over several marking periods Current Average: is the grade of the current marking period
10 To view your child s schedule, click on the Student Schedule button located at the top right of the screen next to the Log Off button.
11 Accessing Your Students If you have more than one student attending a Pender County School, you can click on the dropdown arrow next to the student s name to view your other child s information. Select a student from the dropdown list and click the Display button. This function is available on ALL screens.
12 If you have multiple students in Pender County Schools, choose from this menu Accessing Your Students Then hit the Display button to view the other members of your family enrolled in
13 Menus General Info: Change Password Demographics Emergency Contacts Transportation (Not used in this district) Current Activity: Attendance Academic Progress: Assignments Credits Earned To Date Current Progress Marks/Grades Miscellaneous: Courses/Schedule Lunch Menu (Not used) Non-School Days
14 Navigating Parent Assistant To navigate PAM, move your mouse over the categories listed below General Info, Current Activity, Academic Progress, Messages, or Miscellaneous. Each of these provides subcategories to choose from. To view the subcategory, click on the title.
15 General Information: Password To change your Password, choose General Info Change Password Key Current Password, then your new password twice. Click ok. Passwords are case sensitive and do not expire.
16 General Information: Demographics To view student demographics, choose General Info Demographics Any changes made on this screen are simply a request to the school for a change.
17 General Information: Demographics Business practices do not change Documentation required for Proof of Residency
18 General Information: Emergency Contacts To view emergency contacts, choose General Info Emergency Contacts. Click the details button next to the contact s name to view specific details for the contact. Any changes made on this screen are simply a request to the school for a change.
19 Current Activity: Attendance The Current Activity menu allows you to navigate to your student s attendance. The attendance screen for elementary/ middle schools is different from high schools. Elementary/middle schools use daily attendance; high schools use period attendance.

22 Academic Progress: Assignments To view assignments, choose Academic Progress Assignments. This screen will provide a list of assignments that your student in grade 3 or higher has been assigned by his/her teachers.
23 Academic Progress: Assignments The Calendar button is used to change the date. These buttons determine the order of the assignment by course or by due date. The Details button provides more information for each assignment.
24 Academic Progress: Credits Earned To view Credits Earned to Date, choose Academic Progress Credits Earned to Date This screen provides a list of courses taken, credits received, and marks earned for previous school years.
25 Academic Progress: Marks/Grades To view Marks/Grades, please choose Academic Progress Marks/Grades. This screen will provide you with a report card view of your student s marks/grades for the current school year. Grades are not available for grades K 2 in.
26 Miscellaneous: Non-School Days To view a list of the dates that school will NOT be in session for the current year, please select Miscellaneous Non-School Days.
27 Thank You for using Parent Assistant If you need additional help or have other questions, please visit the website: Click on Parents. Click on Parent Assistant from the drop-down menu. Here you will find training documents, podcasts, etc. You may also contact your child s school NCWise data manager.
28 Misc. Notes: Transportation and Lunch Menu is not used in Parent Assistant by.
