2 Revised: 5/16/07 SUBJECT AREA - CAREER/TECHNICAL EDUCATION COURSE DESCRIPTION: COURSE GOALS: Computer Applications is an introductory computer course that will develop students self-confidence, foster creativity, and enhance skills that are important for success in post secondary education and careers. Students gain basic skills in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, desktop publishing, and computer graphics. The students also learn elementary web design, multimedia, and animation skills. Upon completion of the course, student will: 1. Have a clear understanding of how computer and information technology function within industry and the work world. 2. Understand how to use technology ethically and responsibly to research and process information. 3. Use a variety of media and formats to communicate to diverse audiences. 4. Learn problem solving and time management skills.
