6 3: Intervention Program for Struggling Students Staff will develop a multi-faceted intervention program for struggling students. Identification of students will be done primarily through regular monitoring of student progress through teachers and PLCs. Program components include AVID tutors, AVID Weekly supplemental instruction, instructional assistants, after-school tutoring, summer school, ALEKS math software and Read 180 software. Staff will use the PLC process to teach, assess, re-teach, re-assess, intervene, and enrich instructional opportunities for ALL students, especially those who are among our lowest achievers. 7 3: Intervention Program for Struggling Students Action Step 3: Instructional Assistant in math Site will hire a highly qualified 29 hpw classroom instructional assistant to assist students who are enrolled in the double math period, during the regular school day. Evaluation to include an end of year formal classified evaluation and student achievement in the classroom. Action Step 4: Summer School Extended Learning (summer school) will be provided to eligible students who need remediation in math, reading, and writing. Program pre and post test scores to be used to determine program effectiveness. 06/01/ /30/2017 Action Step 6: AVID Tutors Site will hire AVID trained and highly qualified college students to work with our AVID students two days per week in small group tutoring sessions during scheduled AVID classes. Evidence from the MPS Dashboard, STARS benchmark assessments, AZ Merit assessments, parent surveys, Panorama Student surveys, PLC discussions, etc. will be gathered and used to drive MPS Strategic Initiatives. 8 Strategy 4: Data-Driven Decision Making Action Step 1: PLC Data Use Foster a Professional Learning Community culture throughout campus by maintaining PLC's in order to in order to analyze student achievement data, plan instruction, adjust instruction when necessary, and appropriately apply intervention strategies. The PLC process will be communicated to leadership with use of Google Drive folders. Action Step 2: Data Driven Instruction Teachers will individually and collaboratively review data (Assignments, assessments, benchmarks, homework, etc.) in order to plan for core instruction and intervention when needed. 9 Strategy 5 : Coordination of Services Site will coordinate and integrate all federal, local, and state resources for the intention of maximizing student achievement and parental involvement. One of these evenings each semester will be an AVID parent night, where parents will learn about the Cornell Note taking system, AVID expectations, and the tutorial process. Will purchase outside contract services, light refreshments, junior high age appropriate books and materials to provide make and take learning activities for parents who attend our parent/literacy nights.
