3 11 th International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology and Genetics of Wildlife, 2017 Background The 11 th International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology and Genetics of Wildlife 2017 will be held from the 4 th to the 7 th of October 2017 in Berlin (Germany) and is jointly organised by the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA). This conference takes place every two years and is the only international conference in which the advances in mechanismsoriented areas of the disciplines of behavioural science and physiology are discussed with a large group of participants in order to understand evolutionary adaptations that are relevant for the areas of animal welfare, biodiversity and nature conservation in the wild as in zoos. Given the growing importance of genetic research, the conference also addresses the field of evolutionary genetics in conservation. Goal The goal of this conference is to foster an exchange of ideas between wildlife scientists from different disciplines with an interest in both wild and captive mammalian species, and to present the latest advances and stimulate future research. To this aim, the selected plenary talks and workshops will cover a diverse range of fascinating topics such as behavioural ecology, stress & disturbance, reproduction management of zoo collections, conservation biology and conservation genetics, among many others. Please find on the following page further information on the scientific programme (main topics, plenary speakers, workshop topics). 3
