3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Below follows the Evaluation report of the held in Budapest on the 23 rd of September Quantitative and qualitative data have been collected in order to facilitate the contribution of the participants, make the questionnaire less monotonous and more interesting. The method of questionnaires has been chosen because is the most appropriate way since the use of other methods (interview, observation) were impossible and secondly because the participants memories was still vivid. The questionnaires were filled in by each participant right after the end of the seminar. From the questions asked, in all the questionnaires received, a total 88,4% was answered by the participants. Fortunately the lack of 15% of answers did not influence the results. The only loss is that some thoughts were not heard and therefore not impressed on this report. The evaluation questionnaire consists of eight (8) questions. The questions are divided in two categories: 1. Closed questions: questions 1,2,4,5 are closed questions and are answered with the use of a numeric scale. 2. Open questions: questions 6 to 8 can be considered as open questions. In those three questions participants could write their opinions and comments. The seminar can be considered as a successful one since the participation has been good enough. The number of participants was 43. 1

EVALUATION OF THE SEMINAR 1.1 Evaluation Scale Below is the numeric evaluation scale which has been used by the participants regarding questions 1,2,4,5. 1 Very poor 2 Poor 3 Neutral 4 Good 5 Excellent In question number 5 of the questionnaire, the evaluation scale used was of 3 levels (from 1 to 3, where 1 represented the lowest level of satisfaction and 3 the highest level of satisfaction). 1.2 Overall rating of the Seminar The average satisfaction result of this item is 4,0 and shows that the participants evaluated the International Seminar as very good. The atmosphere in the seminar room was satisfied and the audience can be considered as active and its participation as welcomed. All the participants questions and queries were answered analytically and all the speakers did their best to give as much information as they could. The majority of the participants think that they now have much more information concerning the outcomes of the FREE project but also of the rest of the projects that had been presented. 1.3 Seminar presentations aspects The overall average result of 3,59 shows that participants are satisfied with the presentations made during the event. Five indicators were evaluated by the respondents. The indicator Relevance of the Seminar Topic achieved the average result of 3,76 which means a high level of satisfaction from participants, mainly with the clearness in which they were defined and communicated. The indicator Usefulness of information presented and Audio-visual aids, reached the average result of 3,53 which means also a good level of 2

5 satisfaction from participants. The indicator Quality of the presentations had been also reached a very good level of satisfaction as it reached the average rate of 3,65. Although in general the results had been good the answers provided by the respondents regarding indicator Handouts provided during the seminar (average rate 3,49) shows that the seminars coordinators should had given special attention regarding the leaflets sharing procedures. 1.4 Presentations level The presentation level can be considered as Just right since an excellent percentage number (91,2%) of the participants corresponded that way. A 4,4% of the participants replied that the presentation details were Somewhat detailed and another 4,4% considered the presentations level as Much too easy. In a general conclusion the level can be considered as excellent. 1.5 Seminar Organisation aspects The overall average result of 4,27 shows that participants are completely satisfied with the seminar organisation aspects. Again five indicators were evaluated by the respondents. The indicator Invitations and guest lists achieved the highest average result of 4,53 which means a high level of satisfaction from participants. On the other hand the indicator Parking and directions reached lowest the average result of 3,83 which means good level of satisfaction from participants but also that more information regarding the seminars venue should have been provided. Although the participants would like to be better informed the indicator Choice of the facility/venue has been rated with the average rate of 4,31 which shows a complete acceptance of the seminars venue among them. In general all the other indicators had been rated between 4-5. To be more precise the indicator Scheduling and timing had been reached a high level of satisfaction as it reached the average rate of 4,18 and the indicator Refreshments also reached a high level of satisfaction, 4,47. 3

6 1.6 Attendance in future seminars All the participants had been asked if they will participate in another seminar based on their experience to the current one. The evaluation scale used for this question is below: 1 Very likely 2 Somewhat likely 3 Not likely 65% of the participants respond that is Very likely to take part in other seminars and 35% responded Somewhat likely. These percentages indicate again the participants satisfactory over the seminar. Theirs wish to be part of other seminars demonstrates the quality of the seminar and the important information which it conveyed to the participants. 2. EVALUATION OF THE SEMINAR 2.1 Favourite part/ least favourite part There is a variety of different answers regarding the participant s favourite part of the seminar. It is important though to state that most of them liked very much the national case studies presentations. More precise answers (in descending order) of the participants can be found below: 1. National case studies presentations 2. Variety of presentations 3. Discussion conducted during the seminar 4. Free as an interactive tool presentation 5. Presentations of the related projects Of course on the other hand there have been some small parts of the seminar which did not attract a very small number of the participants. 4

7 Some of them are listed below (in priority order): 1. The first presentation of EDEN was quiet long 2. Lack of interactivity 3. The toolkits presentation was too technical The variety of the answers shows the fact that every participant had a favourite part. This in turn indicates that all parts of the seminar had been interesting and very productive. 2.2 Suggestions and comments All the participants were asked to give suggestions/comments in order to improve future events similar to the. There was also a variety of answers given by the participants. Most of them are listed below : 1. future meetings should include a workshop or a separate discussion session 2. future meetings should be more interactive 3. the duration of the meetings should be smaller 4. use creative slides presentations 5
