It SAVES You TIME OSUIT offers many options through which you may earn prior learning credit, including national tests and certifications, institutional challenge exams, and portfolio reviews. You must apply to be a degree-seeking student at OSUIT before you ask for a prior learning assessment. You will only receive prior learning credit for coursework that is applicable to your declared major at OSUIT. You must successfully complete 12 or more semester hours of college credit-bearing course work through OSUIT before any prior learning credit that you earn will be placed on your OSUIT transcript. 3 ETDG 1143 INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN/DRAFTING Course Assessment Guidelines DEPARTMENT CONTACTS: Abul Hasan Dean, School of Engineering Technologies Mike Pierce Assistant Dean, School of Engineering Technologies COURSE DESCRIPTION: LEARNING OBJECTIVES: RESOURCES: Students learn basic use and application of AutoCAD as a drafting tool through the creation of geometrical shapes, parts, drawings, and electrical symbols and schematics. Students also gain a basic understanding of the fields of civil, mechanical, and architectural design and drafting. Students must have taken or be enrolled in Intermediate Algebra or higher. Theory/Lab. Pre-requisite or co-requisite: MATH ) Use CAD software. 2) Draw using geometric construction. 3) Draw using orthographic projection. 4) Answer questions associated with reading prints. 5) Dimension using ANSI standards and industry norms. 6) Create scaled drawings using AutoCAD. 7) Draw typical and complex section views. 8) Create and use Blocks to develop AutoCAD drawings. 9) Use geometric constraints to allow one to create geometric relationships between selected objects. 10) Analyze drawings and answer questions using Inquiry commands. NOTES: Individual must be admitted as a degree-seeking student at OSUIT to receive prior learning credit. Student must successfully complete 12 or more semester hours of college credit-bearing course work at OSUIT before prior learning credit will be placed on the OSUIT transcript. There will be a $5/credit hour advanced standing fee for all prior learning credit earned through the PLA evaluation process. This fee will be charged to the student s bursar account when the courses are placed on the student s transcript. All credit earned through prior learning assessment will be designated with a neutral grade of passing (P) on the OSUIT transcript. No more than 75% of a degree may be awarded through a combination of prior learning assessment and transfer credit. 5 ETDG 1192 APPLIED AUTOCAD Course Assessment Guidelines DEPARTMENT CONTACTS: Abul Hasan Dean, School of Engineering Technologies Mike Pierce Assistant Dean, School of Engineering Technologies COURSE DESCRIPTION: LEARNING OBJECTIVES: RESOURCES: Each learner produces geometric figures using basic AutoCAD drawing and editing commands, and progress to advanced AutoCAD features that enhance productivity and accuracy. Drawings are scaled and plotted according to industry standards. All learners use the Windows operating system to manage drawing files, and compare their time on a project with the minimum acceptable time allotted to a practicing technician for completion of the same task. In order to improve life-long learning skills, the learner uses written or on-line resources to independently determine a solution when presented with an unknown concept. Students must have taken or be enrolled in College Algebra. Theory/Lab.
