This may involve producing a recorded video or voice over power point presentation etc. on your chosen topic. Refer to the digital presentation marking rubric document for further details. Please take careful note of the topic that you may have done in Anatomy and Physiology 2 (BHS104A) and see that it is not repeated as it will involve losing marks. 2 3 Theory Exam Weight: 40% Due date: End of trimester period Length: 90 minutes + 10 minutes reading time Topic: Written Exam where students will demonstrate theoretical knowledge of digestive, urinary, endocrine, reproductive (male and female) system, embryology, metabolism, nutrition, and fluid electrolyte balance and acidbase homeostasis. 3 2: Digital Presentation Instructions Students are to choose a topic or one aspect of a concept from week s 1 7 content that they are interested in and prepare a 5 minute presentation that includes audio and visual components. It is recommended students: Video themselves presenting a topic and upload the video file, OR Prepare a power point presentation and do a voice over the slides Technical skills are not a requirement of this assessment. Please do not use specialized software such as Articulate, Camtasia or Prezi. Your lecturer needs to be able to easily view and hear your presentation in order to be able to mark it. There is a YouTube video that shows you how to do a simple voice over on a power point presentation. The address is Save the file as First name Last name. The presentation should play with both the audio and video as a complete presentation. If it cannot be played with both audio and video components then you will end up losing marks for that component of presentation. Blackboard Tips are also available on how to upload your file for both Windows and Mac users For all queries around the upload of your presentation please contact the Learning Portal Coordinator at Student Services. There is a +/- 10% for the time limit and like a word count this must be adhered to or penalties may apply. A minimum of five references are recommended with two of them from peer reviewed journals. Referencing must be in accordance with the Academic Writing Guide. Students should also refer to the attached Wiki Marking Rubric Document when preparing their presentations. Assignments received at Student Services reception are date stamped and then passed on to the lecturer for marking. All assignments must include a signed plagiarism declaration, which is included on the official assignment cover sheet available online at or outside Student Services reception. return Assignments will be returned within 14 days of the due date. Assignments are either returned in class (for those submitted in hardcopy) or by (for those submitted online). Assignment extensions All applications for extension must be received prior to the due date, unless there are extenuating circumstances which prevent this. Students will be contacted and informed of the outcome of their application for an extension. Please note that assignments received after the due date without an extension will incur a loss of 10% of the available marks per day for up to 5 days, after 5 days the assignment will no longer be accepted and will receive a mark of zero. Acceptable reasons for applying for an extension include: Medical grounds Unforeseen work commitments Other circumstances outside the student s control Documentary evidence supporting the extension application must be provided. 7 Plagiarism Students must comply with the Think policy on plagiarism and academic misconduct, which is outlined in the Think: Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. Plagiarism is the act of using the ideas or writings of another without acknowledging the source. The following instances would be considered plagiarism: Work that is directly copied not enclosed in quotation marks and inappropriately referenced. This applies to whole paragraphs, sentences and significant parts of sentences. 8 Grading system All higher education units of study assessed within each course are graded according to the following criteria and grading scales: High Distinction HD High Distinction is awarded for work of outstanding quality in achieving all learning outcomes together with outstanding integration and understanding of theory and application of skills. Evidence of in-depth relevant research, reading, analysis, original and creative thought is demonstrated. The recommended academic referencing system is used consistently and accurately at all times. Distinction D Distinction is awarded for work of superior quality in achieving all learning outcomes and a superior integration and understanding of theory and application of skills. Evidence of in-depth relevant research, reading, analysis and evaluation is demonstrated. The recommended academic referencing system is used consistently and accurately with minimal errors. Credit C Credit is awarded for work showing a more than satisfactory achievement of all learning outcomes and a more than adequate understanding of theory and application of skills. Competent use of the recommended academic referencing system is evident. Pass P Pass is awarded for work showing a satisfactory achievement of all learning outcomes and an adequate understanding of theory and application of skills.
