1 HPISD FLES Curriculum - Kindergarten UNIT NAME ESTIMATED DURATION 9 WEEK PERIOD UNIT 2: EL SALÓN DE CLASE (AP Theme: Contemporary Life) Unit Overview 4 WEEKS In this unit students continue to develop language skills that enable them to talk about their everyday lives. Calendar skills such as counting and identifying the patterns in the calendar are developed daily in the regular classroom and emphasized and extended into the Spanish class, which targets curricular connections to math concepts. They identify and name the days of the week. Students learn to name classroom supplies and continue to practice numbers 0-10, begin to name common two dimensional geometric shapes, and identify colors with the goal of describing school supplies they find in their classroom. They also use verbs to talk about classroom activities and say which school supplies they use for those different class activities. 4 If a noun ends in o or os, it is typically considered masculine. If a noun ends in a or as, it is typically considered feminine. Each noun is assigned a definite articles (el, la, los, las) are words that mean the. Indefinite articles (un, una, unos, unas) are words that mean a, an, and some.
