2 2011 TEACHER CONFERENCE Join Battelle for Kids for the Great Teachers Make Great Schools: 2011 Teacher Conference a conference planned by teachers, for teachers. Conference attendees will be engaged in thought-provoking learning and discussion on school improvement strategies to enhance student progress and achievement. Interactive learning sessions will help teachers discover and apply strategies to positively impact teaching and learning. Teacher Leadership & Collaboration Classroom Management & Effective Relationships Curriculum & Instruction Classroom Assessment & Evaluation Responding to Students Needs Intervention to Enrichment Tools & Technology Attend 1, 2 or all 3 days of the conference. Who Should Attend? K 12 Teachers, Teacher Leaders, Pre-Service Teachers, Coaches and Curriculum Directors Earn Graduate Credit Attendees who participate in all three days of the conference and complete a specified assignment are eligible for one semester hour of graduate credit from either Ashland University or Walsh University. University representatives will be at the conference to register attendees who want to receive credit. To download requirements, visit Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Attendees will receive a certificate to submit to their Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) for CEU credit. Some LPDCs require pre-approval for CEUs. Attendees are responsible for conveying information to their LPDC in a manner consistent with their local guidelines.

Contest entries should include the following: 1. Description of the Need What specific situation prompted you to develop this strategy? 2. Description of the Strategy What is the goal for this strategy? What are the steps for implementation? 3. Evidence the Strategy Works Present any qualitative or quantitative evidence that the strategy is effective. 4. Optional Share supporting documentation (illustrations, samples, photographs, etc.) for your strategy. How will contest entries be judged? All entries will be judged based on the following criteria: Universal Application: The strategy meets the needs of a wide array of student/teachers. It is applicable in various disciplines and/or grade levels. Evidence/Results: Solid data/evidence has been presented to support the strategy s effectiveness. Practicality: The strategy is doable for both novice and experienced teachers. It offers practical steps for teachers to follow to address a common need. Creativity/Innovation: The strategy clearly offers a creative solution for a common need. This strategy may not be used in classrooms everywhere, but it should be! Impact: The strategy greatly impacts students in a positive way. It either helps to give students ownership of their learning and/or improves student learning or learning conditions. Who will judge the contest? The contest will be judged by the conference committee, comprised of classroom teachers, Battelle for Kids staff and representatives from the Ohio Federation of Teachers and the Ohio Education Association. How many entries can I submit? We know that great teachers implement many great teaching strategies, so feel free to submit as many entries as you wish. When will the winners be announced? Winners and their strategies will be announced during the conference. When is the entry deadline? June 24, 2011 How do I enter?
