The Dynamic Learning Maps Essential Elements (EEs) standards are specific statements of knowledge and skills linked to the grade-level expectations identified in the college and career readiness standards. The purpose of the EEs is to build a bridge from those content standards to academic expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Essential Elements for grades 3-11 in English Language Arts and Mathematics are located on the DLM website. The DLM English Language Arts/Math Assessments will be the Alternate Assessment for both the 10 th Grade PSAT and the 11 th Grade SAT. Each content area/grade level assessment is designed to assess a specific set of Essential Elements Standards identified by the DLM states. Blueprints are located at 2

3 OVERVIEW DLM Standards Alignment Essential Elements vs. Extended Evidence Outcomes CDE aligned the Colorado Extended Evidence Outcomes to the Dynamic Learning Maps Essential Elements for both Mathematics and English Language Arts CDE s Blueprint Standards Alignment OVERVIEW DLM TEST ADMINISTRATION DLM is untimed and individually administered. The testlets are administered by the test administrator directly to the student. DLM has No restrictions for completing the assessment within a given day. DLM may be stopped and restarted at any time; however once an item is presented, it must be completed before stopping and cannot be revisited. DLM Testlets (Test Items) are delivered to the student based on the student s First Contact Survey information. DLM Testlets are delivered to the student with approximately a 15 minute break in between test items. Once the student completes the testlet, the DLM system delivers the next testlet based on the student s response from the previous testlet. OVERVIEW FIRST CONTACT SURVEY The First Contact Survey is the first step in determining the initial placement of students in the DLM assessment. The First Contact Survey is a survey of learner characteristics that goes beyond basic demographics. This survey covers a variety of areas, including communication, academic skills and attention. All questions must be completed because the system assigns each student to a specific testlet based on these responses. When completing the First Contact Survey, educators will need to provide information on: Special Education Services, Sensory Capabilities, Motor Capabilities, Computer Access, Communication Abilities, Academic Skills and Attention. For returning students, Educator Portal presents previous First Contact responses from the student record. TA s are required to review each student s First Contact Survey and resubmit to begin test administration. 3

4 OVERVIEW KITE Client and KITE Educator Portal Students KITE Client KITE delivers assessments to students through the use of a customized secure web browser accessible on multiple devices. Practice activities and Released Items are also available to students through KITE. KITE CLIENT MUST BE UPGRADED/INSTALLED EACH YEAR. Educators KITE Educator Portal Educator Portal is the administrative application where staff and educators manage student data. CoAlt:DLM Alternate Assessment Ethics And Test Environment Ethics CDE Requirement All CoAlt Test Administrators must be trained annually It is a breach of professional ethics for school personnel to provide verbal or nonverbal clues or answers, teach items on the test, coach, hint or in any way influence a student s performance during the test administration. A breach of ethics may results in invalidation of test results and school, district or CDE disciplinary action.. 4

Readers may not clarify, provide additional information, assist or influence the student s selection of a response in any way. 6

7 DLM PREPARING FOR TEST ADMINISTRATION IMPORTANT DATES Test Administration Window March 15, 2017 April 28, 2017 Grades 3-11 (There are no materials that will be sent to the school for test administration) *10 th GRADE DLM English Language Arts/Math Alternate Assessment for 10 th Grade PSAT *11 th GRADE DLM English Language Arts/Math Alternate Assessment for 11 th Grade SAT *CDE recommends administering during regular PSAT and SAT Testing Dates Testlets per Grade Level/Content Approximately 15 minute break in between testlets while the computer adapts and delivers the next testlet 7

10 STEP 1: Sign Security Agreement 1.Log into KITE Educator Portal using your credentials from last year or from new received from KITE 2.Click on My Profile 3.Read and Agree to Security Agreement Terms STEP 2: Test Administration Manual Read both the DLM Test Administration Manual Link to resources and professional development: STEP 3: Required Training Training Information New Test Administrators = Pass 4 modules Returning Test Administrators = Pass 1 module 1. Passing = 2 attempts at the quiz for 80% or higher 2. Completed = Once Completed/Passed Click on Get Your Certificate Training Link Username and Password is your name prior Example: karen_lutz 10

11 STEP 4: Complete or Update Student s First Contact Survey The First Contact is a survey of learner characteristics that include communication, academic skills and attention. All questions must be completed because the system assigns each student to a specific testlet level based on these responses. If the student is returning, the system saved the responses from last year. However, you will still need to review, update student information and resubmit. 1.Log into KITE Educator Portal 2.Click on Settings 3.Click on Students 4.Click on View Students 5.Click on Student Name 6.Complete Student s First Contact Survey STEP 5: Complete Student s PNP (Personal Needs Profile) Not Required PNP only needs filled out if applicable Assign Personal Needs Profile only if applicable for accessibility features for category 1, 2 and 3. Breaks, Human Read Aloud and Additional Testing Time are all allowable when administering DLM Assessment. DLM may be stopped and restarted at any time; however once an item is presented, it must be completed before stopping and cannot be revisited. STEP 6: Install KITE Client Testing Platform for Students Must be upgraded/installed each year KITE Client can be installed on the following devices by clicking on the link at: Mac Windows Chromebook ipad 11

12 STEP 7: Preparing Students for DLM Recommended but not required Practice Activities and Released Items Review the Guide to Practice Activities Handout 1. Log into KITE Client (Test) 2. Click on Practice Test 3. Type in Username and Password 4. U/P found in Guide to Practice Activities - Page 4 5. Example: Username: demo.lisa Password: wave3 Administering Practice Activities is highly recommended. This helps prepare the student for test administration and also determines the approximate amount of time for planning test administration. Dynamic Learning Maps Practice Activities and Released Items Student Accounts For Practice Activities And Released Testlets Practice activities and released testlets are available through several practice student accounts. 13 STEP 9: Testlet Information Page (TIP) Per CDE and DLM, the list of materials suggested for each testlet can besubstitutedforlikeitemsaslongasthesubstitute material does NOT change what is being measured. (Refer to Handout) Steps to retrieve Testlet Information Page 1. Log into KITE Educator Portal 2. Click on Test Management 3. Click on Test Session for Student Name 4. Click on TIP under Test Information Column 5. Test Information Column is the last column 6. Print or view Testlet Information Page 7. Use the TIP to prepare for testlet administration STEP 10: Tracking Test Progress with New Field in Eductor Portal(TIP) Teachers have a new way to quickly track a student s testing progress in Educator Portal. Manage Tests quickly defaults to reflect completed and remaining testlets. Example: Testlet 3 of 5. Steps to view Test Progress Field 1. Log into KITE Educator Portal 2. Click on Test Management 3. Click on Test Session for Student Name 4. Review Test Progress Field STEP 11: DLM Testlet Field Items 1. In addition to the required number of testlets, your student may receive one additional Field Item Testlet and this will arrive in the Test Management after all of the required Testlets have been completed by your student and coded as an R-Testlet Item 2. Per CDE, the additional Field Item Testlet is not required, however it is recommended to administer the additional Testlet to students in order to have a more robust item bank for the DLM Assessments. 13

14 STEP 12: Administer Assessment OVERVIEW Test Administration Key Steps 1. Complete Student s PNP and First Contact Survey 2. Consider Assessment Schedule to ensure students complete all DLM Testlets during the administration window 3. Schedule location/times for testlet sessions expect and plan for 15 minute interval between delivered testlets 4. Retrieve Student s Ticket (Username/Password for KITE Client) 5. Retrieve Student s Test Information Page (TIP) for the information regarding type of testlet and required materials prior to administering testlet to student 6. Administer testlet to student 7. As each remaining testlet becomes available, retrieve the TIP, gather materials and administer testlet to student STEP 13: Progress Monitoring Report The Progress Monitoring Report reflects each student and how many testlets they have completed and uncompleted. Steps to retrieve Progress Monitoring Report 1. Log into KITE Educator Portal 2. Click on Reports 3. Click on Downloads 4. Click on DLM Test Administration Monitoring Extract 5. The report will generate within minutes 6. Click on the CSV under file and open report KITE Educator Portal Log into KITE and review Test Management Review Student First Contact Survey Review Student PNP (Personal Needs Profile) Review Test Management Test Session Name View Test Session Detail Testlet Ticket and Testlet Info Page View Test Progress 14
