2 ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for free training, you must: Have lived in the UK for 3 years or more Be 19 years or older If you do not fulfil the above criteria, you can pay for the training at a cost of 7.50 per hour. WHY do people volunteer? WHO is allowed to volunteer? HOW do you go about finding the right opportunity for you? This is an informal session for anyone interested in volunteering whether you are out of work, just left college, a parent with time on your hands, recently retired or you want to be part of a worthwhile cause. There is something for everyone!! Volunteer Management (Course 3 hours x 1 week) at The Beehive Day: Wed Date: 15th May Time: 9.30am pm Code: OUTA3A04 Recruiting Volunteers: Come and find out where to start when thinking about involving volunteers within your group or organisation. This will include what policies and procedures should be in place, volunteers and the law, how to promote your volunteer role to achieve the best results etc. Retaining and Supporting Volunteers: How to ensure your volunteers stay! Including induction and training, support and supervision, how to deal with unsuitable volunteers and much more. This is an essential training for organisations using volunteers. A must for anyone using volunteers to support their group. During this informal training you will look at putting different ideas into practice in daily life and experiment with techniques to give you the confidence and assertiveness to speak up for yourself in many situations. Personal & Life Skills Fire Marshal Training (Course 3 hours x 1 week) at AVELEY Day: Thu Date: 18th Jul Time: 10am - 1pm Code: OUTA4A01 To provide delegates with a basic knowledge of fire safety, what to do if a fire breaks out in their building, the use of fire extinguishers and the role of the Fire Marshal. CIEH Level 2 In Food Safety (Course 7.5 hours x 1 week) at TACC FOR MEMBERS OF VOLUNTARY OR COMMUNITY GROUPS ONLY Day: Fri Date: 7th Jun Time: 9.30am - 5pm Code: NLA5D06 A DEPOSIT OF IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF BOOKING OF WHICH IS REFUNDABLE. Photo ID is required at the start of the training An essential course for anyone working with or handling food. This is a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health accreditation which covers legislation, food safety, hygiene hazards, temperature control, food handling, food storage and much more. A very popular course for which early booking is advised. 4
