1 Curriculum & Learning Manager, Careers & Internships Sydney, full time Navitas was founded in 1994 with the goal of helping more international students succeed at university in Australia via improved student support and an extended academic year. Since then, Navitas has significantly expanded the services it offers students and clients and is creating opportunities through lifelong learning for more than 80,000 people in 27 countries every year. Navitas listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2004 and is now an S&P/ASX Top 100 Company, employing more than 5,500 staff globally. Navitas operates across three Divisions. The Navitas Professional, Careers and Internship (C&I) unit is largely a student facing unit focused on provision of work readiness programs for international students and graduates. The Navitas (C&I) operations deliver internship and workplace preparatory programs across five Australian states to international students and graduates to develop them professionally and personally to enhance their career prospects. The unit provides career ready preparation for students seeking to enter the workforce at early stages of their professional career. C&I offers a portfolio of programs which develop foundation skills and career learning skills to enable students to progress their employment goals in their chosen career. C&I operates as a collegiate, matrix operational model leveraging the skills and expertise of the C&I and partner Navitas business units to deliver targeted and nuanced work ready and work development solutions for individuals, industry partners, education providers and professional associations across Australia. The C&I team works closely with other Navitas units, to combine areas of expertise to enable a broad range of students and clients to participate and succeed in the workplace of today and the future. Areas of Responsibility: The Curriculum and Learning Manager, Careers & Internships (C&I) is responsible for effective development, implementation and management of teaching and learning programs in Australia for the business unit. This role works closely with C&I Trainers and the Compliance and Delivery team for the C&I business unit and reports directly to the Director, C&I. The purpose of the role is to ensure C&I develops and implements high quality learning programs which are compliant and delivered in a quality manner to clients by well trained staff. The Curriculum and Learning Manager has a key role in optimising the EBITDA of the programs through ensuring the learning content, delivery and materials deliver high level customer satisfaction leading to ongoing business, as well as having the capacity to be delivered in a cost-effective manner. Selection Criteria Essential: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Post-graduate qualifications in Education, Training or relevant disciplines Demonstrable experience in curriculum and program development preferably for qualifications from the Business Services Training Package Demonstrable experience engaging with industry to develop and enhance curriculum
2 Demonstrated high level educational leadership capabilities in VET teaching, learning and assessment practice Extensive knowledge of ASQA regulations relating to curriculum design and delivery Knowledge of current and emerging e-learning technologies and experience in implementing into course delivery Experience of leading teaching and learning teams to integrate technology into course delivery Experience in evaluating trainer skills, qualifications and experience to meet ASQA regulations Experience in managing trainer professional development programs Understanding of both the Higher Education and VET sectors Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent relationship management skills Applicants must hold a valid visa to work in Australia Experience working with international students Desirable: Experience managing trainers across different geographical locations Experience managing a Registered Training Organisation or partnership arrangement What we offer: An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. The unit provides career ready preparation for students seeking to enter the workforce at early stages of their professional career. The Curriculum and Learning Manager, Careers & Internships is responsible for effective development, implementation and management of teaching and learning programs for the business unit. 2. Key Relationships The C&I Curriculum and Learning Manager is a member of the C&I management team and works closely with: Director, C&I C&I Managers Compliance and Delivery team Trainers Navitas Learning and Teaching team UPA business units 3. Key Result Areas (Areas of Accountability and Responsibility) a) Compliance Ensure the business unit delivers nationally recognised training programs within the scope of registration of relevant partnering RTOs and in line with accreditation, organisational and industry requirements Ensure all policies and procedures related to curriculum design, development and delivery align with ASQA requirements
4 Ensure the business unit is compliant with the accredited training, reporting and auditing requirements of partnering RTOs including review of Training and Assessment Strategy Ensure Professional Year Program delivery aligns with those specified in the Quality Handbook and audit frameworks of Professional Associations as per Program Provider Agreements Ensure trainers employed by the business unit are appropriately qualified according to ASQA standards Ensure student learning materials, handbooks, information and documentation are updated as needed to reflect material changes in any of the curriculum matters or requirements of accredited programs Provide guidance to State Operations Managers, Trainers and administrators on curriculum compliance and training issues b) Curriculum Ensure resources and information are of the highest standard and are accessible and current for all curriculum, teaching and professional development needs Provide support to Trainers and State Operations Managers on questions relating to the curriculum Ensure the C&I Academic Delegations Policy is promulgated and adhered to Ensure a process for continuous feedback and improvement is embedded into the entire range of Careers & Internships programs Ensure systems and processes are in place to adequately monitor and respond to customer feedback regarding curriculum design and delivery Conduct formal evaluation of business unit program offerings, including feedback from students, Trainers and industry; in order to make suitable adjustments to programs and associated materials. Respond to student grievances or complaints related to academic issues such as plagiarism or academic misconduct in accordance with Navitas policies and procedures and those of partnering RTOs Lead the development of course offerings and teacher capabilities to ensure the needs of current and new markets are met Establish a repository of learning materials for dissemination across the Careers & Internships Trainer team Contribute to the identification of new business opportunities that maximise the business unit s growth and profitability Update curriculum as required in order to reflect continuous improvement c) Teaching Technology and Pedagogy Investigate and assess current and emerging tools, digital resources and educational technology options suitable for Careers & Internships program offerings, including face-toface and online delivery Drive change, improvement and innovation in educational practice through the application of technology Provide staged training, support and guidance to teachers to enable best practice integration of technology into pedagogy Maintain currency and relevance of materials and resources that meet customer needs Provide advice on latest emerging trends in elearning and pedagogy including recommendations for integration into Careers & Internships offerings d) Trainer Management and Professional Development
5 Assist State Managers in the recruitment and induction of Careers & Internships Trainers Monitor trainer files ensuring skills mapping documents are current for all trainers and meet ASQA requirements Work with State Operations Managers to ensure annual performance reviews are conducted for trainers nationally Ensure moderation and validation processes are conducted by Trainers in accordance with ASQA standards Develop and implement professional development plans for Trainers nationally, including forums in which Trainer collaboration is facilitated Develop culture of innovation in curriculum, resources, quality systems and processes Ensure effective communication and information dissemination practices are in place nationally for all training staff e) Reporting and Administration Ensure all ASQA related reporting is compiled for RTO dissemination to government bodies Ensure Professional Year Program meets academic reporting requirements for annual peak body audits Provide accurate and timely analyses and reports on activities of the curriculum, quality and compliance and customer feedback areas of the Careers & Internships business unit f) Other Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills Demonstrate commitment to excellence in customer service The position may include a teaching load from time to time Other duties as directed by Director, Careers and Internships
