Student Learning Outcomes: Given a topic, use an internet browser and multiple search engines to generate appropriate information for a research paper. Demonstrate the use of common business software such as Word processing, Spreadsheets, Database manager system. PowerPoint Using presentation tools create a presentation following the design and content guidelines. Given user need scenarios, specify various computer hardware configuration, including an explanation of operating systems Using a computer system as a basis, analyze system risk, perform computer maintenance, and establish computer security Identify various disciplines where computers can be useful in problem solving, information retrieval, control and forecasting Given a case study, analyze and design systems and implement solutions Given a variety of business scenarios, analyze the use and application of computers in a variety of environments Given user scenarios for electronic communication identify appropriate hardware and software.

Additional Materials: Scan-trons, Teaching Methods and Methods of Evaluation: 1. If student don t have an address one will be setup. Discussion is encouraged, as is student-procured outside material relevant to topics. 2. Online course that include an on-campus class meeting your section number for the time of your on-campus class meeting. Section # 9310, Monday, June 22, 2009/from 10:00 am - 1pm or 5-7pm in VT212A. Section # 9311, Monday, June 22, 2009/ from 10:00 am - 1pm or 5-7pm in VT212A. NOTE: if you missed orientation make sure go to room VT212A open lab and see Ms. Mays for assistant. Hours M-TH 8am- 6:30pm. These assignments may require the use of a computer. Computer-based assignments can be completed on campus or at home, if you have a home PC with the appropriate software. 3. Exams: three exams and a comprehensive final will be given. The exams will be open book/notes and are designed to test the students comprehension of material in the reading assignments, as well as any additional material ss. Exams may consist of both written questions and hands-on computer activities. Make-up exams will be given only in rare situations and are submit to a minimum 20% penalty (at least two letters grades). It is the student s responsibility to contact the instructor PRIOR to the next class meeting if an exam is missed and a make-up exam is requested. 4. *Internet: Some assignments for this course will require the use of the Internet. In addition, it is recommended that students take advantage of the resources. :

4 Course Policies: Assignments Descriptions: All assignments are due at the beginning of class on the date due. Late submission of assignment will be assessed a penalty of 10% per day. No exceptions are made. Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism and cheating are serious violations of school policy and will not be tolerated. Cheating on an exam or assignment will result in receiving a zero for the entire exam or assignment and can lead to expulsion from the class or the University. Incomplete Policy: Students will not be given an incomplete grade in the course without sound reason and documented evidence as described in the Student Handbook. In any case, for student to receive an incomplete, he or she must be passing and must have completed a significant portion of the course. ****How to submit class assignments**** When submitting assignments from the books make sure name and chapter is on each assignment.
