EEE4all News Letter Nr. 3 This is the third News Letter giving you information about the EEE4all project, funded by European Commission in the framework of LLP under the ERASMUS action Curriculum Development. PiskurB/FalkLindhA/CraigC/Kraus HedwigE/BruggenvanH November /December 2009 Grant Agreement number: / Project Number: LLP NL-ERASMUS-ECDEM
2: In the previous news letter (nr.2 ) we promised you to give you more information about the external stakeholders that are involved in the development of the 4 modules under EEE4all project. Secondly we would like to inform you about the IT innovations we are exploring. Finally, we would like to share with you the dissemination activities of the EEE4all project team. External stakeholders that are connected to the EEE4all project Partner 1 (Hogeschool Zuyd in Heerlen) has the following stakeholders involved: The main stakeholder is Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. The university is a large institute and a very interesting employer in the non-profit sector. At three locations the Zuyd University employs 1550 employees, at none of the locations the issue of disability is addressed adequately. For the students it s interesting to see that the university is a non-profit company. The large size ensures continuity of the module ; basic attitude of future companies, employers and employees start at the university and form a good pilot with good PR, other universities and companies are expected to become anxious to ask for execution of assignments completed by our students. Other involved stakeholders are: Enid Reichrath (consultant in research, handicap and study); Pernelle van Loon (handicap and study, she has experience of living with a handicap and gaining employment ), Frits Benjamins (director of the Faculty of health and care), Liesbeth van der Meent (client with a handicap and in the process of gaining employment an occupational therapist), Paul Stallenberg (director of Human Resources of Zuyd University), Wilma Habets (location manager Zuyd University), Walter Schreijen (head of property management of Zuyd University) Partner 2 (Linkoping University) has the following stakeholders involved: Swedish Public Employment Service, they are Sweden s largest employment agency, and their services are free of charge. In the assignment given to them by Swedish s Parliament and Government, they give extra attention to people who are at some distance from the labour market. The second important stakeholders are working for Public Employment Service local offices in the region and in the county, involving several different professions. Partner 3 (Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin) has the following stakeholders involved: Our stakeholders/partners are Vivantes Hospital - they have a double stake in our project, since nursing students can take the module, but they are also one of the biggest hospitals in Berlin training nursing and caring staff and thus providing employment to many people with migrational background. The other partner is a state-funded job centre in Kreuzberg, one of the very migrant-dominant suburbs in Berlin. They provide people with migrational background with courses, counselling and other supporting initiatives, and they network extensively with other similar organisations.
3: Partner 4 (Sheffield Hallam University) has the following stakeholders involved: Sally Bramley is a consultant occupational therapist in the area of vocational rehabilitation. She works for the Sheffield Care Trust in the innovative user support and employment network. Northern College is an associated partner and was named on our original application. The College works with individuals from areas of Yorkshire with high levels of social deprivation. It is an example of exemplary practice and has good understanding of ways to support individuals experiencing occupational disruption. The College works with a significant number of older people who are using education as a means of up skilling themselves to meet the challenges of work or to cope with the transition of retirement. John Bell (Trades Union Congress): We have been working with John Bell programme manager for TU Studies to explore the potential of working with the 10,000 or so trade union learning reps in institutions across the country. This is again seen as key to the dissemination and sustainability of the work. Neil Mayne is a freelance educational technologist. His portfolio includes work for the National Learning Skills Improvement Service (focus on mobile technologies) the College of Occupational Therapist (where he is leading on a national project with occupational therapists in the UK focusing on the use of a WIKI in the development of vocational rehabilitation learning resources), the Casson Memorial Trust in the development of a vocational rehabilitation e-learning navigation tool and for people with long term mental health needs. Our expert older people: A small number of older people have been working with us and in advising us about the development of this intervention. Four of the group are recently retired, one person who is 67 still works part time in a manual job and one person has links with the national expert elders group. The group are happy for me to include their first names but at this point wish to retain their anonymity. The group are: Carol, Trevor, Gloria, Brian and Yvonne. This group have been key to the development of the learning materials, advising and highlighting key issues that may arise and also sharing the challenges they have faced. These narratives have formed part of our course learning materials and some of the case studies students will use. Partner 5 (ENOTHE) has the following stakeholders involved: The stakeholders of ENOTHE are 200 partner institutions. All partner institutions are informed about the EEE4ALL project by the newsletter and the website. Several students have already requested to be part of the pilot. It is expected that after the pilot these modules will be attractive for international students as well for of practitioners wanting to broaden and/or deepen their skills and knowledge. The draft products have been presented in an ENOTHE (disciplinary) meeting where were over 450 teachers and students participating. In a workshop the outline of the different modules have been discussed. ENOTHE has already worked on other projects concerning inclusion and the network is developing links with the platform and digital portal ENEVA concerning disability; EEE4all will also be introduced there. Furthermore we expect that the competences developed in these modules will be part of the COPORE project (Competence for poverty reduction, see also
4: IT Tools and techniques in EEE4all Innovation in education is one of the key elements in the EEE4all project. Because of the nature of education (e-learning + face to face teaching) IT tools and techniques will be used. At this point we explore some of the tools available to support the capture of personal and shared experiences. Hereby some examples ETHERPAD Is Web-based word processor that allows people to work together in really real-time. When multiple people edit the same document simultaneously, any changes are instantly reflected on everyone's screen. See for more information at GABCAST Gabcast is a podcasting and audio blogging platform that offers an easy way to create and distribute audio content. See for more information at XTRANORMAL Online movie making resource where text is converted into speech. See for more information at Lea - f Lea f is a learning folio in the palm of your hand - in the form of USB Key. It is a portfolio that has been especially designed for EEE4all. More information will be available in the next newsletter. ADOBE CONNECT To be able to communicate and share things we are going to use Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro. It gives an opportunity to securely share presentations and multimedia right from your desktop, and get feedback from more than one participant. It will be hosted by P4 Sheffield Hallam University.
5: Dissemination activities EEE4all project was invited to present their work on the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Büro Brüssel) seminar "Making better use of the LLP centralised Erasmus actions - projects and experience" in Brussels in July directors of German universities were present. EEE4all project was an example of ERASMUS Curriculum Development project ; we also been asked to present the success factors for internationalisation. During the 15 th annual meeting of ENOTHE (European network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education) the EEE4all project presented the work that has been done in the first year of the project, including educational structure, TUNING competences, aims and objectives, innovations included in the education (like e-portfolio, digital story telling), various teaching methods. The project group also organised the meeting for gaining international peer review and feedback. EEE4ll was part of the Erasmus Cluster meeting on Social Inclusion on 27 th of November 2009 in Brussels that was organised by European Agency. The aim was to take stock of the implementation success of European projects (9 projects), assess their impact and identify good practices and lessons to be transferred to the benefit of larger communities. Two EEE4all poster presentations are excepted by WFOT 2010 Congress Academic Programme Committee and will be presented during the 15th WFOT Congress, 4 7 May 2010 in Santiago Chile. In our next news letter: we will give you more insight in the innovations chosen for the modules and more We are looking forward to keep you updated with the progress in our project! EEE4all wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best in 2010! For more information: Please visit our web site : or send an to Barbara Piškur: b.piskur@hszuyd.nl
